FloriDopers: Heads up for TS Fay

Consarn it! I’m supposed to be calling everyone to update their emergency contact info, and I haven’t even read the whole Dope today. On the upside, we may get a day off on Wednesday…

It would be so much easier to get ahead at work if we didn’t have to WAIT ON OTHER PEOPLE!!!

Okay, we’re officially closed tomorrow as far as office staff goes. I’ll post from home depending on how long the power holds out…otherwise, catch you on the flip side.

I’m always glad when these threads come out. The only reason I’ve even heard mention of it is because I’ve been rabidly watching the Olympics, which occasionally slips into a little local news coverage. Ah well, it’ll be a slow day at work tomorrow at least. The most recent picture looks like we’ll be avoided here in Tampa, and that it’s going to continue the path up the middle and moving towards the east coast.

Ha! We win again, mother nature!

I like the way the current projection shows the storm cruising nonchalantly up the Florida peninsula, until it gets to Jacksonville and is just about to head out over the Atlantic… and then it snaps left and dives straight for Macon! PSYCHE!!! You were the victim all along, Macon! ALL ALONG!

Hear hear! I got to work early this morning and stayed late so that I wouldn’t have to worry about meeting my Wednesday deadline if we lost power tomorrow. After all that work, I want something, dammit!

In Orlando–I’m freaking out. I hope I am just making a mountain out of a molehill.

I don’t think it’ll be too bad. Make sure you’re in a secure location, and have lots of snacks and reading materials on hand. You’ll get through this.

Good wishes to all FloriDopers, and stay safe!

earlier this year i was watching house hunters. a daft couple were looking for a vacation home in the keys.

y’all are wondering why i said daft aren’t you. here is why: this couple bought a trailer, a trailer mind you, in the keys, for over a million dollars. a trailer. it was nicely done up, and had pretty landscaping, and oh, look there’s the ocean!

me, i’m yelling at the tv: “have y’all heard about hurricanes?” hur-ri-canes??!! how is a trailer no matter how well tied down gonna fair against flying debris? the walls are thinish metal.

wonder how that million + dollar trailer is doing now.

It should hit as a tropical storm. The winds can gust up to 70mph, I believe, so make sure you have flashlights and candles.

I’m a bit worried there may be tornadoes. So just be careful, and listen to the news advisories as much as you can.

Need some research before I can state what I did.

OK, did my research. Fays center passed about 10 miles SE of me at 8AM. It was a big meh. Right now, it’s all gentle rain and wind.

Like ivylass and ladybug, I’m hoping to see a little something. Naturally I don’t want anyone hurt or their property damaged, but I do love a good storm.

So here I am, at work. The parking lot is flooded. They’ll probably send me home in a few minutes anyway. Still, it’s fucking wet outside.

Wow, she really turned to the east and no hurricane status for her.

I’m getting a little wind and overcast skies here in Pinellas, I wonder if we’ll get much else? Well, I hope everyone in her path escapes without any serious damage.

Nothing yet, just a bit breezy. It’s supposed to hit Orlando(ish) about 3pm or so.

Woohoo, got a call from the boss this morning, and the office is closed for a “Florida snowday”. I’m in Boca Raton, and it’s just raining and there’s only like a 5 to 10 mph breeze, so unless a tornado gets spawned here it’ll just be a day off. But, I may have to work Saturday if we don’t finish up certain things this week.

It’s still perfectly calm here. Cloudy, but nary a twitching leaf.

Weirdly, I stopped for gas last night, and it was only $3.65! What the heck?

It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring…

::yawn:: Feel like taking a nap with all this rain. And snuggly cats.

There is rain and wind coming, right? Nothing yet in my neck of the woods.
