I went to my medical group’s clinic and signed a short waiver. They already have my insurance info.
Usually by 8 hours out I’m feeling pretty 6nder the weather, but with today’s shot I’m just dull and a little headache-y. My beloved made me a bowl of chicken broth with matzoh balls, so I suppose that gets the preventive credit.
Got my Flu shot today and the first Shingles shot. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow.
I’m usually fine with Flu shots. But I’ve heard the Shingles shots have caused some side effects and not the good kind.
So I’m pretty sure it was the Shingrix shot that got me.
I had nausea, fever over night and still a little high this morning. Some shivering and tiredness and muscle pain. I took 2 advils maybe around 3:30am and the fever was much lower 2 hours later. I didn’t get much sleep in the end, so I might nap a little later.
Yeah, Shingrix was really rough on me. It was awhile ago now, but I remember feeling like I was hit by a truck, and was thankful that this isn’t a shot that you have to get on a yearly basis.
I hope you feel better soon. Shingrix knocked me down worse that the COVID vax. My recent flu shot caused swelling and redness at the site, but no other side effects. I’m scheduled for a COVID booster in about a week.
I know this is a personal question so please don’t feel like you need to reply, but do you know if the flu or Shingrix will work for you? I understand there was some question about the COVID vax.
I am so annoyed, county public health is saying “Get your flu shot!”
Is there anything on their website about the flu clinics the county has every year (including last year, so I assume they’re planning on it again this year)? No, there is not. Why tell us to get a flu shot and not include information about this?
I have no idea, to be honest. I’ve had the flu shot every year since my kidneys went kaput, so it’s just kind of become a “thing”. On the plus side, I haven’t had the flu in eons, so maybe? When my daughter was up here with Influenza A in 12/2019, we were in fairly close contact (I have a small house) and I was fine, despite it being only months past transplant.
I do know Shingrix is the only shingles vaccine I should take, as others are contraindicated for immunocompromised people.
Thank you. I know that things are harder for folks like you, being reminded like this helps me to remember to follow all the rules.
There are very, very few things I miss about working. Yearly flu shot clinics at the job sites are a biggie. I’ll call my doctor after their lunch is over.
Got my flu shot two weeks ago, and am long overdue for my Shingrix shots. I just heard that they’re going to start recommending Covid boosters for everyone over 65, so I’ll probably have to put off the Shingrix until after I get the booster.
As of today a booster is approved for those over 65 who are 6months post their second Pfizer dose. The Moderna and J &J booster news should be out in a few weeks.
Ask your pharmacist if you need to separate your Covid booster from your shingles vaccination~you may not need to and might be able to get both in one visit. A pharmacist would know best about which vaccines can be administered at the same time. Shingrix, which is by far the best shingles vaccine, is a two shot regimen several months apart.
I made my Covid booster appt for tomorrow on-line today as soon as the announcement was made.
If it’s your second dose then you already know that the shingles vaccine can be pretty ouchie. You might want to get the two shots in different arms.
I wonder why that is considering how anti-COVID behaviors prevented so much flu spread last season. Was it bad this year in the Southern Hemi? Has their flu season already passed?
I was wondering about that myself, but then realized that last year much of the behavior was mandated and or socially encouraged.
That has changed so much now that I would expect those FREEDUM idiots to start picketing flu clinics because someone might slip some Covid jabs in. Of course the anti-vax idiots aren’t going to need to worry about anyone slipping a Covid jab into their flu shot, they haven’t ever had one, but they need to protect the children or freedum or democracy or pay 5G access or something.
The problem with shots in both arms is if you sleep on your side, it’s not very comfortable on either one. I didn’t sleep the night I chose that option for the flu and pneumonia shots.
