Both spouse and I got our flu vaccination on November 3rd (Vaxigrip Tetra).
Exactly one week later we both got some sort of crud, which seems to be in line with some major cold virus which is going around. Considering how little unmasked contact we have with other people, it’s rather annoying some germ still got us.
As I’m in the Moderna trial, they asked me to wait at least two weeks after getting my booster before getting my flu shot. I understand it’s not that they have evidence that getting them together is problematic, but rather they want their symptom reports to be untainted by other variables. And the flu shot did introduce some other variables; my arm was sore for 2 days (less painful than with the booster, but still) and I was really tired that afternoon. I’m hoping further study shows COVID boosters don’t need to be given every six months indefinitely and that combining with a flu shot doesn’t make the symptoms any worse, because I’m tired of getting so many shots that make me feel crummy.
I got my flu shot some time in October. Usually I feel a bit grungy a day or so after my flu shot (I get them dutifully every year) but this year I didn’t have any side effects. I don’t even think my arm hurt by the next day.
Anyone else experience this? I thought hey maybe my immune system was running better this year because of my covid shot.
Of course it could be this year’s flu shot concoction, it could be that I’m older than I was last year, could be I was better hydrated this year, whatever. But I thought it was interesting.
I got mine in September. My arm ached for 3 days, but no other side effects. The one time that Walgreens decided to give everyone the 4-strain vax usually reserved for the elderly, I had a lot of intestinal distress that night, but every other year a sore arm is my one notable side effect. So… I really don’t know if there’s a knock on effect from being covid vaccinated too.
Same as you, achy arm which was gone by the time I woke in the morning. This was after my first shot of AstraZeneca and my second of Pfizer knocked me on my ass for the better part of a full day.
