Flugtag LA: Who's Goin'? Mini-Dope?

I don’t knwo how to describe it, there have ben commercials for it, but this Saturday at the Santa Monca Pier they wil be having the Flugtag

I think the best way to descibe it would be, ummm, folks in contraptions that favor form over function attempt to jump off the pier and “glide” into the water, with most failing miserably at the gliding part.

I thought it would be cool if other Dopers were going to go? I suppose a time and place is needed if Dopers want to meet. Suggestions?

I was thinking about going. It looks like it could be fun. I think any meeting place to be considered should involve beer. I don’t know the area that well, so hopefully someone else can suggest a good bar or something. Yipeeeee

Ye Olde King’s Head is the usual Doper meeting place in Santa Monica. Great english food, and copious amounts and myriad choices of alcohol.

Unfortunately, I have to meet a guy in the Valley at 13:00 and I won’t be able to attend Flugtag. Maybe there will be a gathering later?

Hmm, I guess there isn’t much interest, just me and lightningfool. I was thinking of meeting at Ye Olde King’s Head as Johnny recommended around 10:30. Should I bother?

lightingfool? Well, now I’m not going. Actually, I just found out I have to come in to work on Saturday (bastards). Have a good time!

I try not to miss a “fest” of any name and this sounds like tons o fun but our new dryer is being delivered on Sat. so we won’t be going anywhere until it comes.

Perhaps next year… Really does sound like fun.

Hmm… Saturday I’ve got plans with Lady SPOOFE, unfortunately. But I doubt I’d have gotten up anytime before noon on a Saturday, anyway. A pity… I would’ve loved grabbin’ a drink with Johnny at Ye Olde King’s Head. Last time I was there, I was underage.

You could always go anyway. Try the English Breakfast (“queen size”, unless you are very hungry) or the fish’n’chips (“queen size”, unless you are very hungry) or the bangers’n’mash.
