Adam is an exceedingly patient cat, very mellow.
He will scream his head off though when the dogs bother him, knowing that one of us will come save him. He also knows that if he wants out an nobody has noticed, that he can attack one of the dogs, so the dog will chase him. That always gets our attention.
I got my son to do the census stuff, he’s an adult now, so he can do it. Nothing on it he couldn’t answer, except for my birthday.
Howdy Y’all! Home from the take out St. Pat’s celebration. Actually been home for a bit. We dished up lots of takeout, so looks like we will at least break even. Since this is a Parish celebration, we don’t look to make money, but 'tis nice if’n we do. We (those of us who cooked and served) ate as a group after it was over. 'Twas fun to just sit, eat, talk and laugh. OYKW told me on the way home that he really does love that place and is glad he found it, though the way he found it was because of me.
We noticed a lot of the restaurants were or appeared to be busy judgin’ by the cars in parkin’ lots. Glad to see that. Hope they don’t start closin’ down cause that would put a lot of people out of irk who most likely can ill afford to be out of irk.
{{{CupCakes}}} given the craziness of the past few days, he might not have had a chance yet to call you. Hang in there!
For those of you who may need more information about the current situation, I give you Ginger Billy. Sound advice!
Libraries are closed for the next 2 weeks at least, so no wiggle-giggle. But since daughter is off work/work from home, Roxy will get extra playground time, weather permitting.
Thanks for the good wishes, but life still sucks. I just checked my email, and without explanation my hours at the cafe have been reduced from 40 to 25. I am going to try and find out what’s going on, but if this is permanent I’m out of there. They opribvably want me to quit, rather than firing me and being able to collect unemployment. That catering business is an asshole business. Engroff’s, if you see this I mean you, yes you.
'Twas cold today, and the cold had a bite to it, thanks to the wind. A few bored snowflakes fell. I walked to the grocery store. Some item in the produce section was completely gone, but what? No sign, sale or otherwise. It was interesting to see what was gone and what wasn’t: no ramen noodles but plenty of boxed mac and cheese; no chili but plenty of soup; no bread but plenty of rolls, bagels, and English muffins. Very strange, these humans.
swampy, I wish I lived near your church. I forgot to even look at corned beef at the store, and I bet yours was yum. Also, apparently the weather listens to you. Maybe if I invoke your name, I’ll have better luck.
FCM, whaddya mean, no wiggle giggle?! What are we supposed to do, sweep weep?
cupcake, I’d bet money nobody got the happy news phone call from that guy. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve known people who gave up when they didn’t get the call when promised and got the job. Heck, I’ve been on the other end we couldn’t call because of some delay. You can officially give up a week from Monday. Yep, that late.
flyboy, glad you two are giving the local restaurants some business.
Cut our vacation short, so had to go shopping on Friday as I discovered the freezer only had two small portions pasta e fagioli (pasta to be added after thawing, of course), cookies and pumpkin flesh.
So far I made split pea with sausage soup on Friday, bolognese sauce yesterday and will make Thai chicken & green beans for today’s lunch. Part of the soup and sauce went into the freezer for next week’s meals. Also made a failed blueberry bread, as I forgot the baking soda and powder. Managed to made biscotti out of them.
Today’s supposed to be 14 C (57 F) and sunny so we plan to go for a walk, keeping our distance from others. Yesterday was much colder and a bit drizzly. The southern part of the country is on lockdown, but they are allowed to go out for walks, unlike Italy. Hope we’re still allowed out when they decided to put us on lockdown.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 61 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and mostly cloudy for the day. No big plans for the day. Services have been canceled for the next two Sundays at least, so no deheathenization. We might go out for N.O.L. Since both of us are over sixty, we shall just play stuff by ear and hope things settle down soonest.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
A rainy 37 degrees outside. Waiting for the sun to come up so we can leave for the park.
I hope our park doesn’t get closed, although I have heard it will be closed in April to allow the grass to grow.
Feeling somewhat better today, although still stuffed up, sore throat, and ears bothering me. That could be allergies, or a cold.
I didn’t do anything yesterday, today I HAVE to do laundry as I put on the last of my clean clothes this morning. The shrimp should be thawed, so I have to make something with them today. Sunday is a good day to make shrimp as Moonday is trash day.
I think now that the weather is warming up a bit I’m going to start tossing my winter clothes that are in bad shape. If they aren’t good enough to donate, I shouldn’t be wearing them anyway.
Looks like my new normal wake-up time is between 7:30-8. Which makes sense, since I’m staying up later at night. It’s working, so there’s that.
Not a lot on today’s agenda. I need to clean the critter fountain, and I’ll sweep the kitchen and push the vacuum cleaner around the carpeted areas. I may even <gasp> dust!
On an unrelated note, **sari **- I just noticed your sig line seems to have the wrong first word… Obviously until now, my brain saw what you meant, not what you wrote.
**nellie **- we’ll have to do our own version of wiggle-giggle at home I guess. Plus we have about 2 wooded acres for a back yard, with a path carved thru (for dumping yard waste at the far end.) Roxy likes walking the path. Yesterday, she was picking up random leaves, sniffing them, and maybe carrying them before throwing them away. She also picked up a downed branch that was taller than I am! And she hugged a holly tree. Yes, my granddaughter is a tree-hugger!
**Red **- I’m not sure how they’d close the playgrounds - I don’t think any of them are in areas with restricted entrances. But we shall see. She has a swing at home and we can rig up things for her to climb and such. We just can’t provide playmates, alas. Except for us, of course.
Meanwhile, I shall continue caffeination. Happy Sunday!!
Got home from the park early, it was freezing out there.
I wanted to leave earlier than I did, but Jax was late getting there and we were waiting for him to get tired. Also, Lily hadn’t been there for three days, and she was so excited to see Ripple that I didn’t have the heart to cut the visit short. Lily has moved from tolerating Echo to liking her, but she LUVS Ripple.
Not much on the agenda, today. Laundry is the one ‘sure thing’, though. I’ve got to make a quick run to the pharmacy, to pick up my insulin. Other than that, that’s about all.
I went out on the front porch, earlier. It smells like cat piss. It’s really a strong smell, too. Not at all pleasant. Sickening, actually. We have cats, but they’re indoor only. There are some people that just don’t take care of their pets. I am going to call the humane shelter, and have them bring out a couple traps. That way, I can get rid of it, and bleach off the damned porch. Disgusting.
I hate to have it hauled off, but, if it’s not being cared for, it’s better off being put down. I don’t know of any way to keep the nasty thing off my porch, other than to trap it, and have it hauled away. Good grief.
Up, caffeinated and sheveled. Gordie has decided to nap in front of the chair Alex Catt uses to climb up to the table where the cat food is. That’s one of the most passive aggressive things I’ve seen a dog do.
I have showered, dressed, helped **FCD **interpret some aircraft drawings, vacuumed, and set up my Echo Dot. Alexa is now in the living room monitoring our television viewing habits. Big Brother has arrived at FairyChatEstates!
No caffeination for me, I have peach schnapps and orange juice for the morning. Hearing that my hours have been cut next week is depressing, I’m sure it’s a preparation for being fired. It’s said to be a reaction to less business, because less folks will be at the library, but I am sure the owners are lying. They want to get rid of me. A******s.
Mama Plant bought a cheap large box pf pepper and put some on the hood of her car to keep cats off. They clean their feet and taste pepper. It might keep him off you porch.
Actually, baker, they may have a point about less foot traffic. Doesn’t mean that they aren’t asses though.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Today will be the cooking day for the week. For becks, supper shall be quinoa, veggie and parm stuffed peppers and garlic butter carrots.
Also, last night I dreamed the apartment was flooding again, and a small hungry Allosaurus was running around.:dubious: But it’s been seven days since the lst disaster.
