Food porn for Beck in the MMP!

Hey, nobody said it’s the Taj Mahal!

Lucky the food is good or I’d be making a break out.
We are under a tornado warning. Great balls-o-fire!!
The hits just keep coming!

Yeah, well, drop in here uninvited and you take your chances.

Well, how are you supposed to write your application on a cake then?

Appendages crossed that a) you gets it and b) it’s a good 'un!

Virus Panic has arrived here properly today; until now it’s been mostly jokes about panic buying TP, but suddenly everyone’s apparently taking it seriously, with people nervously looking at the size of the local hospital, and discussions about closing skools 'n things, which would mean both class and irk for me.

They probably should, in all honesty, but it would be highly inconvenient for some of my skool irk; I’ve been doing a project since August (on viruses, as it happens, albeit plant ones), and I’m supposed to be doing the final testing in a few weeks time, I’ve spent ages trying to arrange lab access at the Big University and everything. If I can’t get that done, well, I don’t really have a project worth writing up, and that’s 40% of the marks for this year. I know in the scheme of things it’s pretty unimportant, but…

Pfft, tell me when you have real problems…

Rumor has it this includes State Stores!!!

                                                 :eek:

I immediately ran to the groc instead of going on the wickend; spent 1½-2x a normal week but got lotsa food, including stuff that is now in the freezer so I really don’ts hazta go next week. I wasn’t going crazy with the extra stuff, in fact a lot of the extra stuff I got was on sale & it will get et at some point so all I did was some time shifting of purchases. All I should need is more milk at some point…& booze.

TP aisle was decimated. I got a 6-pack of quad rolls since the regular supply was getting low (Don’t worry, Swampy, the emergency & panic supplies remain untouched.). The guy who walked up behind me got three 6-packs. There were only two remaining after him.

…in the wind.

(Doggio, I believe she’s saying to occupy yourself with music.)

Ratts! I should have thought of that.

But to achieve the full sposrts experience, I’d need ti watch someone else dust, while I screa “NO!NO! GET INTO THE CORNER AND GRIND!”

Well, Merrylande is closing all public schools for 2 weeks as of Moanday. So daughter won’t have to go in - which makes her happy. I think we’re OK for food, but I do need to get some bananas. I may run to Food Lion early tomorrow.

Supper was yum - I was going to make poke chops, but the pack I pulled out only had 2, so I sliced a large chickie tit and made strips. We also had broccoli, onions-n-shrooms, and instant smashed. Shortly, I’ll do the dishes, then I’ll chill.

Evenin’, folks.

Today was my regular grocery shopping day. I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up my Rx. While waiting for them to open, I got to do some people watching. I saw women, some of them were working in teams, filling their carts with Lysol spray, and Clorox wipes. Let me reiterate…They were WORKING IN TEAMS. Dear Og. There was one lady, who had the seat part of her cart, filled to the brim, with cough/cold/flu medicines, and various aspirin/ibuprofen/acetaminophen/Aleve/etc.
The toilet paper, lunch meats, hot dogs, and bread, were GONE. They did have ice cream, frozen pizzas, and milk, along with all sorts of canned goods, fresh meats, and shampoo. The paper towels, bleach, and bar soap were slim pickings, though. I found a few multi-packs of Dove, but that was about it, hand soap-wise.

I’m glad to be back at the hovel, where I’m safe from all the crazy that isn’t my own. And, it’s raining. Joy.

My prior post was unclear - I cooked both the poke chops and the chickie. Daughter and **FCD **had poke, Roxy and I had chickie. The dishes are now washing, except for the ones I washed by hand. I like having a tidy kitchen.

Well, you see, the nearest Sonic is a half hour away, and when I go, I get a few days of leftovers to tide me over. Bacon Breakfast Burritos reheat well.

My Sonic has a abnormal menu with items that don’t show up on the app, so I always end up with two orders. Not my fault that the app doesn’t include bacon cheese pretzel dogs!

What? You wouldn’t eat cornmeal flapjacks with sausage for breakfast? On a stick? :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{shady}}}
Irked, came home, the usual. Tomorrow, I’ll be the sales order person, plus the other reconciler is out, so’s I’m three people. It should still be a light day and I should be outta there around 2ish.

I plan on being a homebody this weekend. Grocery shopping and popping into Lowe’s for some garden stuff to prep for the patio garden.

While I wouldn’t be eating fancy, I tend to keep enough stuff here that I could hunker down for ~90 days, other than meds and CVS would deliver those if worse came to worse. I would miss fresh aigs and milk (I keep powdered milk on hand for emergencies and have flax seed and psyllium husks that can be used for aigs in baking), but I would have plenty of protein, starch, canned and frozen vegetation on hand. I would be eating mostly vegetarian fare by the third month though. There’s also a three month supply of TP, paper towels and toiletries, so I would even smell good. :stuck_out_tongue:

Evening all. No soccer practice due to wet fields, and we should be getting a message tomorrow or Saturday from the Parks and AYSO regarding the season and the virus. Have no idea what it will say, there’s no ‘outbreak’ that I’m aware of in Alabama, but it’s just a matter of time.

Alien, as one who has broken fast more than once with white castle cheeseburgers, I am in no position to dispute other’s tastes.

Nona, haven’t been in a store here in N. Ali-bama this week, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see much the same thing.

Nut, hope they can make arrangements so you can do your work or give you extra time to complete it, what with lots of people being affected.

Heat hasn’t kicked on all day. So there is that savings to be had.

All y’all take care.

metalmouse- corndogs are good at anytime!
I would pay real money for someone to go get me some. DIL has laid the law down. My family are wimps.

Feeling better this evening. Rehab supper was Chef salad. And a fruit cup. Very good.
The regular meal was meatloaf I just couldn’t go that.
I walked the corridor twice. My legs are getting over the wobblies. I feel much stronger.

Big Wrek went panic shopping at Sam’s Club when he left here. I can’t wait to find out what he bought. I keep lots of toilet paper anyway. I have a case in the garage. 144 rolls. In the house I have it stashed in several places. Mid-daughter told me there was plenty.
I’m not worried about water. We have wells.

Seriously, my biggest worry is the supply line and whether I can get insulin. And all my other meds.
What will be will be.

lHowdy Y’all! We got yahd irk done (still more to do, but we’re retired so we don’t have to rush gettin’ it done), had geezer sup, and I went to my meetin’. I have also irked on compilin’ data for my CDI team that went and played I spy on a church. Speakin’ of CDI, our scheduled meet time of next weekend has been postponed. So we wait to figure out what’s what, I reckon. In the mean time, we shall have our St. Patrick’s celebration thingy over to the church house on Sattidy as scheduled. Tomorrow afternoon I shall be over there to do the corned beast and other prep stuff. Hope folks show up. There are a looooooooooooooooooot of briskets in the fridge!

There has been one diagnosed case of Mexican beer virus here in southwest Jawja, but it was someone who was visitin’ family and he was transferred to a horsepistol somewhere around Etlanner where he’s from. No big panic, cancel everything, the zombies are comin’, announcements yet.

Would one of your techs fly to Sonic if you buy?

(Spoken as someone whose niece brought her Wendy’s southwest salads and cigarettes while in rehab :stuck_out_tongue: )

My stomach doesn’t have a clock; does yours?

You know that line about anyone whose nose is that close is kissing my arse, & anyone who is kissing my arse…

Speaking as a recent recoveree of the Dos Equis virus (I didn’t have a lime ;)) I must say That’s awful!

Day One with no sports.

So far so good.
[sub][sub]kill them all[/sub][/sub]
I did manage to score TP today, so I am a rich man.

Ya know, if it gets you fabulous drive times, it’s all worth it!

OK, so I’m reviewing my supply situation and hope I’m reasonably set. Shopping is a horrible thing lately. We have plenty of frozen and canned food on hand and adequate OTC meds for some time. The cat has at least a couple of months of food and as much as a month of litter. I think DH is OK on prescription meds. We had our usual “keep stocked up” levels of hand sanitizer, bleach, and TP, and I’ve restocked paper towels and kleenex recently. I have most cleaning products I normally need. Our supply of disinfectant spray is lower than I like (and obtaining more at sane prices appears impossible), but I did find an online source for isopropyl alcohol and ordered what DH and I considered a reasonable supply. Between the isopropyl and the bleach, I should be able to handle disinfecting, if less conveniently than a nice aerosol can. I do have more than adequate stock of feminine items as well.

Can anyone think of anything I might have forgotten? I don’t consider bottled water needed, since I do not anticipate problems with city water supply.

I am a bit unsettled that my (worldwide) church has cancelled all member gatherings until further notice, including Sunday worship, which we’re being encouraged to do at home.

“Go to the pharmacy, Nellie,” I told myself. “Go to the gym. You’ll feel better when you’re out among people and not reading about this stupid virus.” Hah.

At pharmacy: Tech says to woman in line ahead of me, “I’m sorry. That medication is on backorder. With the disruptions in the supply chain, I’m not sure when it’ll get here. What’s it for, again? Seizures?”

At the gym: Front desk guy says to me, “There’re a lot less people here today than yesterday. I’m just tryin’ to stay sanitary.”

I get home. Cases in the state have almost doubled overnight. Governor says we could hit over 200,000 in ten weeks. Son (close to Seattle) texts me, “I’d feel a lot better if you stayed home for a few weeks.”

I’m not feeling happier. Starting to wish I’d stayed in Wyoming. Or in 2012. Yeah, that was a pretty good year. Why’d I leave, again?
