Beck, I found a recipe for low-carb corn dogs. I have no idea if they’re any good, but in case you’re interested when you get back to your kitchen, here it is:
I went to the gym last night, it was definitely not as busy as usual…however, our local football team was playing a Europa League match overseas (behind closed doors) so that was on telly. Went home and spent the rest of the night listening to my DJ friend’s rock show.
We debated what to do with our weekend. The ‘big’ music festival we were due to go to has been postponed (cancelled, as far as we’re concerned), we had instead booked tickets for another event which has also been cancelled (one singer can’t get a flight out of Prague, and the other is concerned about getting a flight back to his home in Spain). Now we are looking at a local music event on Saturday which is apparently still going ahead but is a 1.5hr drive away, and requires overnight accommodation. As long as Idiotboy Boris doesn’t do anything stupid today, that will be our plan for tomorrow.
The university is still open and operating as normally as possibly since our academic staff are still on strike. We have one self-isolating member of staff who has a cough and sore throat, but he suffers with asthma and his wife says it’s completely normal for him at this time of year.
The rest of us soldier on, we have all been given instructions for remote access to systems so we can all work at home, and I have a fancy laptop from the uni (which, of course, doesn’t connect properly).
Other than that, it’s a normal Friday over here.
Happy Firday!
It’s a dark 50 degrees outside.
Just waiting for the sun to come up so we can head out.
When I get home I’ll make sure my son is up to get ready for the interview.
Yes, MetalMouse, he will be having to ask some questions, of a total stranger. I think he is getting a little better, he’s not complaining about it and he hasn’t been looking like he wants to hurl.
Still haven’t put the houose back together, I found a big box in the closet with stuff in it that I have no idea where it came from. One of the boxes from my mother’s attic? A mess of scrapbooking stuff and other crafty things. Either belongs to my nieces or is one of the boxes of stuff a friend gave me. Or somebody is sneaking into my house and hiding stuff in the closet.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 81 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Spring done sprung in southwest Jawja! This mornin’ I shall irk on data collectin’ for my church I spy group (raw data gets sent to me and I organize it and send to the group) which I intend to accomplish then email results to everyone as was originally planned before next weekend got canceled. This afternoon I shall be over to the church house to cook up corned beast for tomorrow’s festivities. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit, cause sallit makes it healthy.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
Happy Firday Y’all!
The locusts have descended upon the Food Lion in Leonardtown! I decided to go early today so I wouldn’t have to take Roxy - I wasn’t panic-buying. I just needed a few things, like bananas for Roxy. And I was hoping to get a sack of N.O.T.s and a head of cabbage to go with the hunk of corned beef I bought last week. HAH! Not likely… The milk case and the bread aisle were similarly ravaged. Holy crap on a cracker!!
Speaking of which, I didn’t look in the TP aisle. I just got the few things I wanted and now I’m home. I may try to go back later when they’ve had a chance to restock. Other than that, no plans for the day.
Happy Firday!!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It’s raining and the last day of nice weather for a couple of days.
Harris Teeter was packed yesterday. No TP, but the beer aisle was well stocked.![]()
Does anyone habitually call it Food Loin?
[NB: We don’t actually have any up here, but I’ve heard of them.]
It has been suggested that there is a rumor; most of our toilet paper is made in China, and it will be difficult to manufacture and deliver with so much of the Chinese work force sick.
Wait! Whot? Corndogs are made? From organic ingreediments? I thought they were mined!
I sincerely hope that a bunch of those businesses who have their shoddy crap manufactured in china go banko. Yes, I understand economic theory, but I don’t gotta like it.
Morning all. Got up feeling human for the first time in a week, think I’ve finally beaten the bronchitis. May have to venture out a do a little shopping and we’ll see if N. Ali-bama is as crazy as the rest of the places (I’ve already got plenty of TP).
Everybody take care of themselves.
I have read that nearly all our TP in the US is manufactured here in the US.
We stocked up last weekend. And yes we bought extra TP. Hubby is quite worried about the virus and probably right to be. He would not fare well. He is mostly staying at home a good deal. He is spending lots of time in his office doing administrative stuff.
I am at irk but may slip out early today. Then I will make up the time next week. I am tahred and sleepy.
First on 4
Actually, they grow wild.
Southern Merrylande has gone bat-crap crazy! I took Roxy to the playground this morning, and on the way back, I stopped at Food Lion, snagging the LAST bag of N.O.T.s and the LAST head of cabbage! So we’re good for corned beef and cabbage tomorrow.
But the TP aisle was stripped bare, and the meat case was getting close. This is worse than blizzard warnings!
Bat.Crap.Crazy.
Before you got there. :o
Corndogs are made from organic ingredients? I’da thought for sure they were made from inorganic ingredients. :dubious:
I am getting major cabin fever. No, not from Coronavirus, from the ankle. It didn’t feel bad yesterday but was swoled again when I got up this morning. I don’t do well w/o my daily fresh air/outside time/movement. Even when I had the Dos Equis virus a few weeks ago I still managed to get out.
ETA: Swampy report to the fainting couch, IMMEDIATELY!
I don’t know what the stores are like around here, but the library was closed. I had to park in front of it while waiting for Sah-son to interview.
Lots of people complaining because nobody said anything.
The pub/restaurant where he interviewed doesn’t have a parking lot. I didn’t have to pay though as there was an hour and a half left on the meter.
However, I went out to da jungle to look at toilet paper and more than a few brands were ‘not available’.
I’ve heard some people are buying it up and then selling it at an inflated price.
Beautiful day, windows are open.
I’m making eggs and toast for my son and the dogs, my eggs are pretty old and need to be used up. One of them had a cracked shell, so I put it in the freezer until trash day. I meant to take the bag of shrimp out of the freezer to thaw for today and forgot. I have one bowl of turkey soup left, that can be dinner.
Never made it to the store, they looked pretty crowded and I have enough stuff to manage for a week or more if needed, but did treat myself to lunch at the Lone Star steak house. Came home to see that the city has cancelled all activities, including youth sports, until March 29th, so there’s 2 weeks without much activity.
Took inventory and I have 27 rolls of TP on hand for my one butt, so I should be good unless dysentery sets in…
Everyone take care now.
According to the local supermarket, folks here are panic buying pasta, TP and various otc medicines. I popped in on the way home.
I’ve realised I need to get the car MOT’ed (annual safety check, for those of you that ain’t BooFae). My friendly neighbourhood mechanic said his son could sort it, as I know it needs a part ordering in for the handbrake… Problem is, he said that back in December, and he’s yet to put me in touch with his son, and I really need to get it sorted in the two weeks or so. I can’t not have a car for long, right now. Hopefully I’ll see him tomorrow, and I can work something out; I’m not sure if said son already ordered the part or not, I’ve barely seen him in ages due to the constant torrential rain.
Oh, and thanks for the assorted good wishes for A Thing, but sadly it ain’t happening. Didn’t even get shortlisted
It was a bit optimistic. Oh well.
Howdy Y’all! So, we will have our St. Patrick’s feast tomorrow but ‘twill be takeout only. Folks can come by between five and six p.m. to pick ‘em up. ICK! Anywho, the beasts have been corned and are wrapped in foil and in da fridge. Tomorrow mornin’ we will slice ‘em up. What we do is pour the warmed up broth over the beast and then put it in the warmer oven. Always works out well. So that, cabbage, N.O.T., root veggies, pasta sallit, and bread puddin’ (killer bread puddin’ BTW) will be available. We shall see how this goes. In other news, all services are cancelled for the next two Sundays (if there’s less panic next week that could change), and Communion Under Special Circumstances will be available. To know more about what that is, look up BCP Online, click on Holy Eucharist, and that will be explained.
For now, I am enjoyin’ an enormous cocktail and chillaxin’.
Nuts sorry A Thing did not happen. That just means there’s a better A Thing out there, so don’t lose hope, OK?
swampie, at the cathedral there will still be services, but it will be Morning Prayer, which does not have the Eucharist. No mentiom was made of special circumstances. I hope there will be, as it feels strange to not have it at the service.
Bread pudding slathered w/ COVID-19 topping. Mmm, mmm, good!
O.M.G. These Corona virus restrictions are getting out of hand; apparently in Souf Jawja one can’t even share a hyperlink, forcing us to look information up ourselves.
