Food quirks from TV characters

The first series of The Vicar of Dibley featured a character called Letitia Cropley, sometimes known as ‘The Dibley Poisoner’.

Paraphrasing from Wikipedia, Letitia was the creator of such delicacies as bread and butter pudding surprise, which included home-bred snails (hence the surprise), Marmite cakes, chocolate mixed with cod roe, parsnip brownies and chocolate spread sandwiches with a hint of taramosalata.

Don’t try these at home.

I forget which show but during my child hood there was a muppet/puppet based show on Nickelodeon where one of the characters, a vampire looking guy, like drinking “beetle juice” (not to be confused with Beetlejuice).

And yet he put ketchup on cottage cheese.

Counselor Troi, on ST-TNG, loved chocolate.

On The Bob Newhart Show, Bob’s mother had trained him as a child to chew every bite of food a specific number of times (23, I think). He carried the habit into adulthood, which drove his wife Emily crazy.

The Walshes from classic ‘90210’ had a sort of bonding ritual over ice cream straight out of the container.

And the teenage aliens of 90210 were nuts for Tabasco sauce on sweet foods, of course.

“32 times keeps your tummy from danger, then you can stay up and watch the Lone Ranger.”

I was always amused by Joey Tribbiani’s willingness to eat (and enjoy) just about anything, like Rachel’s trifle that she somehow wound up putting beef in:

“I like it. Cake? Good. Jam? Good. Beef? Good.”

Damn. I had planned on including that one.

It. is. time. to consume. mass. quantities . . . (the Coneheads, SNL)

“Ewwwwww! He drank the fat! ! !” (also Friends)

Jay Landesman, though not fixated on any particular food, was always eating some sort of fast food when in his office.

I believe Dr. Gregory House likes his Reuben Sandwich, dry, no fries. And yes, hold the pickles.

“All right. Floor cheesecake.”

Mayor Adam West is a man who loves his taffy.

Larry on Numb3rs only eats white foods.

You could start a whole thread on the foods that the Clampetts liked to eat including.

Possum Innards
Smoked Crawdads
Fried Chicken Hawk
etc.

In Ocean’s Eleven, Brad Pitt’s character is always eating.

I’ve gotten the notion that the latest doctor is a vegetarian, and because jelly babies contain gelatin, he can’t eat them.
