Food quirks from TV characters

Michael Weston in “Burn Notice” loves his yogurt.

Brenda Lee Johnson in “The Closer” craves candy bars from her desk.

What else?

Dale Cooper of Twin Peaks and his hot, black coffee and pie.

Kojak had tootsiepops.

Fox Mulder his sunflower seeds.

Laverne Defazio’s Milk and Pepsi

Tea, Earl Grey Hot.

Robert from “Everybody Loves Raymond” always touched food to his chin before he ate it. Every bite.

Way back in the 60’s, on Julia, Julia’s boss was a doctor who put jelly beans in his coffee.

In “classic” Doctor Who, jelly babies were enjoyed by even-numbered Doctors, but especially Tom Baker’s, who offered to share them with friends and enemies alike. Confusing matters, only the Master has been seen to eat them in the new series, leaving fans to wonder when jelly babies went over to the dark side.

Oscar the Grouch likes peanut butter and pickle sandwiches.
As a kid, I tried it. If you use sweet pickles, it’s actually pretty good.

Also, Worf’s prune juice.

Kojak and his lollipops.

Adrian Monk’s food has to be on separate plates/not touching.

Way back on “Welcome Back Kotter”, a standard running gag was that Mrs. Kotter was forever bragging about her ‘famous tuna casserole.’ However nobody else on the series ever wanted to touch it.

Similarly, Det. Yamana on “Barney Miller” was forever brewing pots of coffee that were famously bad.

In The Greatest American Hero, Robert Culp’s character ate dog biscuits. Milkbones.

The Golden Girls loved their cheesecake.

You never put mustard on a Coney Island pretzel. It’s communist. So says Archie Bunker.

The alien cops in ‘Alien Nation’ got drunk on spoiled milk.

And it seems like almost every episode of Family Ties featured one or more family members entering the kitchen, pouring a glass of orange juice, and then leaving, taking no more than one or two sips of the full glass.

Jerry Seinfeld’s character had a thing for breakfast cereal on ‘Seinfeld’.

Both Gibbs and Abby on NCIS are caffeine junkies. Gibbs drinks coffee and Abby a soft drink called Kaf-Pow.

Nobody has mentioned Duff Beer yet. And mmmmmmmm…donuts.

If we’re counting cartoon characters, then we have to include Bugs Bunny and carrots, Popeye and Spinach, Garfield and lasagna, Frye and Slurm Cola, and Scooby and his Scooby Snacks.

Coyote and Road Runner? Sylvester and Tweety?

Charlie Crews on Life has a thing for fresh fruit, having spent 12 years in prison where you never get fresh fruit ever.
