Foods that you consider almost dessert but aren't really - a poll

I got up to get another diet Coke and to check the time left on the bread I’m making in the machine, and it made me think of food that may not be a traditional dessert, but you like so much it almost seems like one. For me it’s homemade yeast bread or rolls. I absolutely love it, so much that given the choice between that and dessert, I’d probably choose the bread.

What does it for you?

I’m not sure if this answers your question, but in lieu of dessert, I’ll often eat a bowl of cereal.

In fact, I eat more cereal in the evening than in the morning.

Thai Iced Tea. So sweet, and full of tea-ie goodness.

Hmm… biscuits fresh from the oven with molasses and butter… yummy… and yogurt… french vanilla yogurt.

Another vote for cereal - I don’t think I could ever want to eat it in the morning, but occasionally, in the evening after dinner, it seems really good.

Another cereal fan checking in…I often prefer a bowl of cereal for dinner, even with a choice of a “real” dinner on the table.

(Oddly enough, I really don’t like cereal in the morning.)

When I’m eating sushi, I’ll save the flying fish roe for last. It’s so sweet, it’s like dessert to me.

English Toffe cappuccino from Sheetz. Mmmmm, caffeine, sugar, cream and yumminess. All in one cup!! Now, if they’d only make one that tastes like

Pie

Crab legs.
Prime rib.
Lobster.

I’d almost always rather have more of the above than a traditional dessert.

Baked applies. Mother made some this weekend when I went to see her and they were delicious. I think I’ll fix some tonight.

I “need” to end my meals with something sweet… Even if I am not hungry anymore… I’ ll have a candy or something like that.
Cereal for me too as desert, very often, I do not like milk so I put my cereal in… yogurt or hot cocoa… I know I know my hubby thinks I am gross.

Full-fat soft cheese.

I’m not big on sweets. At the buffet, I’ll go back for another piece of fried chicken, an eggroll, more rice & gravy … etc. I prefer to spend my “dessert” calories that way.

Then … there’s always beer.

A PB&J often serves as dessert for me… unfortunately…

the end of a great mexican meal for me includes guacamole.

[drool] mmmmm… guacamole… [/drool]

Garlic bread or fresh buttered bread to sop up the remains of spaghetti sauce.

MMMMMMMMmmmm…

Another yogurt fan. Failing that, there’s always the Slurpee! (at almost any time of the year, thank you very much)

F_X

Yet another bread fan here. Any sort of bread–especially biscuits with honey or jam.
Or if there’s no bread left, a small second helping of anything cheesy.

Yummmmmm…

I like a glass of good whiskey for dessert. I’m not too big on sweets.

Or cheese is always good. Mmmm…cheese!

Another vote for cereal-as-dessert. Also waffles.
