Foods you freaking hate that lots of others freaking love

Coriander.
Mustard.
Squash/Marrow/Pumpkin.

Otherwise not much and nothing I can think of right now.

Cow liver. My mom served that at least once every two weeks when I was growing up. When I moved out one of my first thoughts was, “Hey, I don’t have to eat liver any more”. And I haven’t.

Organ meats in general, unless unidentifiably ground up into sausage.

OTOH, I love love love foie gras, although I try to avoid it on ethical grounds. Try. Sometimes fail.

I’m not much for eggplant, but I don’t refuse it.

Marshmallows I do refuse.

I also don’t like sweet potatoes much, so marshmallows on sweet potatoes is something of a nightmare scenario.

Amongst the others frequently mentioned here, I love raw tomato, onion, cilantro, mushrooms (cooked), melted cheese and beets, especially pickled beets. I’ll have yours, no problem.

Shellfish makes me spit up. How can anyone eat that stuff.

Limp, chewy bacon. I like it well done.

Bumping this thread: I mentioned pickled grape leaves in this thread, and it reminded me that I have NEVER acquired the taste for dolmas. Those things are DISGUSTING.

I will not eat freshwater fish. At all. People 'round here go nucking futs for it, especially in the summer. The whole town will show up for the K of C fish fry. No thank you, blech.

Similarly, I won’t touch organ meats or spicy food (think: spicier than Taco Bell medium sauce). I have friends that will nosh hot wings until they’re crying and drenched with sweat. Food != pain, IMHO.

Bacon. Even the smell of it nauseates me.

I’d be careful saying that around here.

Peanuts, fruit jams and watermelon.

any kind of meat
dairy milk as a drink (okay as an ingredient)
almond milk
canned fruits and vegetables except canned black olives
most sweet fruits such as apricots, figs, although I do like bananas if they’re fresh
mushy apples, only like crisp varieties with no bruises
fruit pies such as apple pie
portobello mushroom
eggplant

Meatloaf.
Mushrooms.
Peppers of any kind.

What do you like to eat?

I was wondering that too, GreenElf. Seems like you have eliminated everything but fresh veg.

Mainly any food not listed.

Turnip greens.

Everyone in my family (except me) loves them. When I was a child and my mother was cooking them, I used to go sit in the yard (even in winter) to get away from the smell.
On the other hand I’ll eat just about any kind of organ meat except brains and chitterlings, so I’m not completely abandoning my redneck roots.

I lived in the P.I. for a year and ate fresh pineapple 3 times a day since it and calamansi were the only fruits around. It was a decade after I left before I could touch it again.

Not quite everything. Here’s a short list of some foods that I freaking love, or at least like, that have previously been listed by others as freaking hated:

black olives, mustard, ranch dressing, avocado, melons, shredded coconut, coconut, Pop-Tarts, raisins, cilantro, cheese, cake, beer, coffee, onions, mushrooms, asparagus, celery, beets, creamy sauces, squash, cream of wheat, butterscotch, tomato sauce, Tabasco sauce, dark chocolate

I dislike bacon, cats, and The Princess Bride. I’m pretty much persona non grata here.

Can I have your bacon?

:stuck_out_tongue:

No, it’s definitely not the texture. I hate the flavor of tomatoes when I encounter them on salads or as chunks in salsa or on hamburgers. Maybe it’s a cooked vs. raw thing. Same as I love raw carrots, but can’t stand cooked ones. In this case, cooking improves the flavor of the tomato.

Good god. No, I don’t think meat-flavored jello would be an improvement.
