Fried clams. Unfortunately, at current prices ($21.00/plate) I am unwilling to indulge.
So I opened the thread thinking, 'Gee, I can’t think of anything off the top of my head!"
Read the first post and now that’s all I crave. Damn it!
And it’s not readily available round these parts either. Damn it!
A patty melt, burger with cheese and fried onions, grilled on rye bread.
Those little La Choy frozen eggroll pillows they don’t make any more.
An omelette made with swiss cheese and sprinkled with hot sauce. Or an omelette made with drained cottage cheese, like my grandmother made for me when I lived with her.
Thin, small, chewy cheese pizzas from a particular restaurant that I have never experienced from any other place. I don’t know what their secret is, but they are unlike any others.
Pork roast studded with onion rings toothpicked on, and the onion rings burn while cooking - my brother and I used to fight over those burned onions!
I could go on and on, because I’m sitting here starving!
Mwah ha ha ha ha ha. Had it again this morning. Breakfast of champions!
I don’t really have a craving for croissants as in going to the store just to get them, but if I eat one croissant then I’ll inhale another ten croissants in short order if I give in to the urge. This time of year, I’ll go to the store two or three times a week just to get some ice cream which is in high seasonal demand.
There’s a local Mexican chain that makes an incredible salsa. Every bite delivers the full flavor of garlic, lime, chiles, and cilantro (yes, I love cilantro, so shoot me). At least once a week a get a mighty craving for a burrito (just a simple bean-and-cheese) with a side of tortilla chips loaded with the house salsa.
Not a food, necessarily, but a place. I love Sweet Tomatoes (also known as Souplantation.) Their Caesar salad is yummy, and I have never been dissatisfied with their soups. Their desserts and muffins are great too. In fact, tomorrow for lunch I’m treating myself (I usually brown bag it.)
Damn you!
(I’m seriously considering making some Gado Gado in an attempt to calm this craving!)
This time of year I get cravings for orange freeze pops, Italian ice or popsicles. They must be orange, as no other flavor will do.
We don’t have them here out east, and the first time I heard the name, I thought that it was made up for this scene.
Shame on me. I didn’t know at the time that the vast majority of the cultural and scientific references on TBBT are genuine.
Not so much a food but ------ hot sauce. Sometimes when the wife is cooking my only comment is “anything is fine as long as it goes with hot sauce”. And I’ve been known to volunteer to cook just so I can design the meal around adding hot sauce once its on my plate. I don’t consider myself fully a pepper-head but there are times when I just need my fix.
Amen. My body craves bibimbap, but every so often my soul craves a mess of fried fish with lots of hot sauce, and something cold, sour, and alcoholic to wash it down.
Yeah, baby. We have them in Florida.
Coffee black with sugar PLEASE!
I like Sweet Tomatoes too. We only really know about it because friends with kids like it there, since it’s relatively cheap and parents put lots of veg on their kids’ plates.
That’s what we call it - all the vegetables. If we’ve had a few days without salads (I know, I know), I ask MaxTheVool if tonight is an all the vegetables night. I make myself a big salad with most of the things from the salad bar, just enough croutons on the side, ranch dressing also on the side, then a corn muffin and honey butter. If I’m really feeling splurge-y, half pink lemonade and half Sprite. Mmm.
Maybe tomorrow. Google for coupons!
Banquet pot pies. They’re horrible, they hardly qualify as food, and my own homemade pot pies are objectively miles better. But every now and again, when I’m cruising through the frozen food aisle at the supermarket, I have to fight the urge to buy about three Banquets and go straight home and eat them all.
You know those horrible Totino’s “pepperoni” “pizzas” with the pepperoni in little cubes? Sometimes I just have to have one. Can’t help it.
Chocolate
Chocolate-covered cherries
Ice cream (not chocolate) with chunky chocolate things in it
Bread with butter and honey on it
Egg-Canadian bacon (or lunchmeat)-cheddar cheese-Laughing Cow cheese sandwiches, preferably on an English muffin or Italian sandwich roll
Those incredibly delicious plums that are dark purple on the inside
A gas station cheddarwurst on a hotdog bun with relish, onions, ketchup and mustard. They always give me heartburn, but it’s worth it.
I can make better ones at home, but for some reason I get cravings for the ones that have been on the rollers for days. I think it’s the same part of my brain that would rather watch a half over movie on tv with the swear words bleeped out, sex scenes cut and full of commercials than just start it from scratch on Netflix or putting a DVD in.
To the OP, I just had bibimbap for the first time a couple weeks ago when we went out to eat for my mom’s birthday. I’ve been craving it ever since.
I crave a certain Hungarian dish called Túrós csusza which is basically a heart attack on a plate.
The simple and cheap version is boiled kluski noodles, cottage cheese, crisp bacon crumbled, a bit of bacon grease and some black pepper. Drool!
