Foods you have consistently hated.

I understand it’s one of the spices used in Worcestershire sauce. Odds are you’ve already tried it.

I’m surprised I didn’t notice any votes for tea. How anyone can drink that smelly crap, especially hot, is beyond me.

“Fishy” fish, like salmon or bass. I can tolerate fish that isn’t too strong flavored like whitefish or perch, but salmon makes me want to hurl.

Pretzels. Can’t stand to be in the same room as someone eating them. Foul smelling, worse tasting.

Liver in any form. My family owns a farm and we raise excellent beef; however, I will not, could not in a boat, in a coat, in a box, or with a fox eat liver. That is just some nasty, nasty stuff.

Lima beans. The texture gets to me. They’re both mealy and squishy all at the same time. Gurg.

Bananas. I’m not a fan of squishy things in general (see above). Again, the texture is what gets to me.

Umm, I eat anything and everything that’s prepared for human consumption.

Among my least favourites would be:

  • Head cheese
  • Tripe
  • Tongue

I’ve tried these, and would eat them again if push came to shove, but would prefer not to.

I’m there with ya. Every food that I dislike, I can at least understand how someone could find it enjoyable.

I hate coffee, but I can understand how people can drink it and enjoy it. Beer? Not for me, generally, but I can somewhat see the attraction. Beets? Again, not something I’d prefer to eat, but in a pinch I can eat it.

However, celery is, to me, the taste equivalent of someone screeching their fingernails down a chalkboard. It’s vile, and I can’t understand how anyone can eat it.

I love tea, but tea that is poorly prepared can be SERIOUSLY nasty.

I continue to be appalled that Tim Hortons around here, as often as not, make tea with milk by putting milk in a cup, filling it with hot water, then putting in a tea bag. This is the worst on the spectrum of abuses that begins with letting the tea steep for too long, making it all raunchy.

I love most of the frequently mentioned items: tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, olives, shellfish. I can eat almost anything, there are a few things I’m not wild about, but I can eat them. I prefer not to eat the following:

Mayo
Butter
Green peppers
Papaya - I want to love it, it looks so good
Passionfruit
Fresh apricots (but dried are okay)
Pears - too grainy
Raw broccoli (steamed is okay)
Cauliflower
Canned sardines (the little spine vertebrae bones creep me out)
Desserts made with rosewater
American cheese
Swiss cheese
White bread (hate how it sticks to the roof of the mouth)
Grape jelly (just ate too much as a kid)
Anise, fennel
Black coffee (great with milk)
White wine (prefer red wine)

Oh…I really really really dislike beer and would never drink it, just don’t like the taste.

I used to work as a waitress in a Mexican restaurant and the four most hated foods seemed to be (in order of people requesting their removal from dishes): onions, green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms.

Preach on brother!

I fought the slaw, and the slaw won.

I was at a restraunt one time and they served me a barbeque sandwich with slaw on the sandwich!

Nasty!

Ah, yes… I had forgotten coleslaw. Pickles, too, and mayo, ketchup, mustard (as a condiment, I like it in food), relish–almost any condiment. Ugh.

Olive loaf. Why does that exist? Two (too) nasty foods, put together.

I cannot comment on the tuna fish disaster mentioned upthread–that is just nasty.

Cauliflower falls apart in my mouth–no matter how much butter or cheese is slathered upon it, it feels like dry bits of tasteless mush. I am not sure just how mush can be dry, but there it is…
Also potato salad, macaroni salad etc–all of these contain mayo, some of them contain tuna fish (I am disliking tuna more and more lately-used to like it in casseroles). None of these remotely taste good to me. I cannot imagine why anyone would want to eat them, but I will not comment on you or it, if you do.

Now, if these salads were made with either cream cheese or sour cream, I think I would like them more. Maybe not–never been that interested to give that a try.

I’m completely with you on that. I love bratwursts, and German potato salad, etc. etc., but I can’t stand the smell of saurkraut. I’ve never even tried tasting it, because the smell almost makes me gag.

People are dubious about my German heritage because of this.

I have to do the whole Pork and Sauerkraut thing every New Year’s Day. I make sure I mix the smallest amount of Kraut possible with mashed potatoes. It at least gives me my Minimum Yearly Requirement.

In reference to the Tuna Fish Concoction… my husband eats tuna fish on blueberry bagels  , but he said that mess was nasty.

Turkish Delight.

From cradle to grave, I will never let a portion of it pass my lips without those feelings of revulsion.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned GRAVY - the only way to ruin perfectly good mashed potatoes. It has no suitable place in my menu.

Want to hear something odd? I love V-8 juice, catsup, and salsa. But I hate tomatoes.

Other things I won’t eat include mushrooms and olives. Yuck.

Hmmm… I love cucumbers, raw tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, and dill pickles. Which I noticed a lot of people hate.

I hate seafood. Including fish… Actually, especially fish! The smell of it cooking makes me nauseous. And shrimp- BLEH. And crabcakes too- BLEH.

I can’t stand peas or lima beans.

And here is the weird one I haven’t seen anyone mention: **I don’t like doughnuts. ** Call me crazy, but I don’t eat them. Something about their smell and that particular kind of pastry is gross to me. And I love sweets, especially baked goods. I ate the chocolote off of a doughnut once when I was about four, and to this day remember the incredibly awful taste, and I am a confirmed lover of all things chocolate.

And I don’t like Jelly or Jam. You really shouldn’t smother decent food with any sort of glutinous substance.

I don’t really like cake. I eat it from time to time, to be polite, but more often lately I notice that I will stop after a couple of bites and think “this is so not worth the calories.”

Discovered at age 31 that I was allergic to oranges, potatoes, and intolerate of corn and its byproducts. The first two only clog my sinuses, the latter causes castastrophic digestive output. Green peppers repeat nastily on me. Few foods cause me to hurl. The ones I do not like I spit into a napkin. Haven’t had to do that in a long time.
Cauliflower to me is bleah. If I have to I will consume it.
Eggplant needs to be unsoggy.
Extremely spicy is not good. If it painful I do not need to be eating it, right?
Mircile(sic) Whip is just NASTY.

Being vegetarian I have an excellent reason to avoid gravy. Before that I sometimes had the glorious dish that is mashed potatoes served to me totally ruined by gravy. Ugh. Nasty, nasty stuff. Vegetarian gravy does exist, though I’ll never try it because why would I want a vegetarian version of something so disgusting?
