Yeah, but I sure hope they don’t let that creep just run away and get away with what he did. It was assault, and who knows what he had in mind if he was able to subdue Liz? At minimum he should be fired, but really he should be arrested. If he gets away with a warning I’m going to be pretty disgusted with Lynn Johnston.
The real question is are they actually going to have Anthony leave his wife for Elizabeth?
Being speculation, I’m not bothering with a spoiler tag.
She’s been hinting forever that Anthony’s wife is about to leave him, they are hardly together anyways.
What about Liz going back North to teach again?
Hmmmm this is mini-Harry Potter like speculation, only with daily installments. Think we could get JK Rowling to do the same?
Mr. Goob. MAN. there’s a million-dollar idea if I ever saw one. Harry Potter, the comic strip, by J. K. Rowling.
With daily strips half the size of a Sunday supplement!
What amazes me is that either a) neither Liz or her father told Lawrence that Creepo was stalking her, or b) they did and Lawrence didn’t do anything about it, and actually left them alone in the store together.
None of those fit Liz, Mr. Patterson, or Lawrence at all.
I got the impression that Creepo wasn’t supposed to be in the store.
The big question is, what the heck was Anthony doing there? At first my mind was telling me that he’s the accountant, but he’s not Lawrence’s accountant…he’s Gordon’s. And he doesn’t even work from the office there, he works from home to take care of his kid (whose name I forgot).
He was wearing his orange uniform shirt, so I assumed that he was there working.
And I just realized that the linked comics are in b&w. I read them in the morning on ucomics, which prints the color versions.
Accountants wear orange uniforms??
Zev Steinhardt
Sure it wasn’t an orange jumpsuit?
Creepo (Howard?), not Anthony.
I’ve been thinking that Elizabeth isn’t the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. She should have reported Howard long since for harassment and didn’t.
She didn’t speak up when Lawrence left, and she knew she’d be alone with Howard. She’s damned lucky Anthony showed up, for whatever reason.
And telling him “Be careful!” Careful of what, for crying out loud? Careful of hurting Howard. While Anthony had him in a chokehold, I would have been looking for a baseball bat to bash in his skull. Or at least calling the cops.
Johnston had better write in some legal action against Howard, or I’m going to be pissed. The guy was going to rape Elizabeth, or beat her up if she fought too hard. Too bad aggravated rape isn’t a capital crime.
It’s not that Liz is stupid. It’s that she’s too nice. I Know way too many people (men and women) who will endure seemingly endless harassment up to and including minor assault (poking, pinching, nudging) because they don’t want to get anyone “in trouble” and after all, “it’s just playing around”.
This has been my suspicion about Liz for many years now. I decided it was definitely true after she willfully ignored her boyfriend Eric’s philandering a few years back.
Liz consistently sticks her head in the sand rather than dealing with problems. It always blows up in her face. You’d think she’d learn, but she doesn’t. Hence, dim bulb.
Makes for interesting reading though. I’m surprised Anthony was there. I agree that Liz should call the police and press charges. It looked like he was going to assault her in some manner.
He did assault and batter her.
Being “too nice” != being “a dim bulb.”
It’s sometimes hard to separate behavior traits and patterns from people, but there ya go.
