Happened to me in the late 1980s - after Anita Hill put the issue in the spotlight. RickJay is right. I saw a woman get fired for bringing up the issue in the late 1990s. And Can’t may have easily sued, and every guy she ever flirted with in a bar, every short term relationship, every above the knee skirt she wore would have been hauled out. I just studied a recent case in a business class where a woman sued and won - and got $33,000 after attorney bills - for significantly worse sexual harrassment, lost her job, needed therapy.
And today’s strip indicates that this thing is going to go public. We’ve now got five people who know of the specific incident.
Legal action, methinks, is coming.
Is Anthony copping a feel in the second panel of the 8/13 comic?
In generaly, yes, but not in this particular situation.
I notice no one has commented on my previous post, in which I pointed out that none of the usual “external” worries about reporting a harasser are true for Liz. There’s only one thing that kept her from reporting him (as she has said to Anthony): her “internal” desire to believe that Howard was good and everything would be alright. This was quite foolish, as we’ve discussed above.
Well, check out Tuesday’s strip. This couldn’t be any more blatant if LJ put Liz and Anthony’s initials inside a heart with an arrow through it.
And wrong is being piled upon wrong. First it’s something to joke about: “Oh, tee-hee; I’m not the only one he’s rubbed the wrong way!” and now the other workers, who didn’t even witness the attack, are going to give their version of it to Lawrence. Great.
someone just slipped on the slippery slope!
I keep wanting Warren (the aforementioned helicopter guy) to come back, and for Liz to come to her senses and go be with him.
And I also want Liz to stop being drawn like she’s still a teenager, and Anthony to stop being drawn like he’s middle aged (the mustache has to go!). The way the characters look, the potential romance between them seems creepy at times. It’s bugged me for a while now.
This has bugged me too. Anthony looks older than Liz’s father.
I think living with that bitch wife has aged him.
Oh, god…Anthony’s mustache is like Comic Fashion Don’t #1. I’ve felt that way since it first showed up. It’s godawful, and I LIKE facial hair on men!
8/19 update - Howard has been fired, and charges will be filed.
Brian
I was wondering if Lizzie would have to worry about Howard stalking her. Now it seems the whole Howard plot line was just a setup to get Anthony back in the picture with his heroics.
I’ll say it again – I can’t believe the way I get into these story arcs, worrying about fictional characters!
Today: Looks like Liz has mellowed out, forgotten about her stalker troubles, and is ready to contemplate her navel.
I want Kortney to come through the door with a gun about now.
Well, burning your mom’s casserole can have a way of shaking you up and putting things into perspective.

I agree with this perspective on it. She’s overloaded.
Eh.
To quote a real-life Famous Author I yusta work with, “Real life is why we have NOVELS.”
And now we’re off to another storyline, apparently.
The 7/22 comic had a foreshadowing that Therese might be up to something. My bet is that she’ll be shown to have been having an affair.
The 7/22 comic is April on her uncle’s farm, talking to her cousin about the horses.
It’s 8/22 now.
