Please don’t go if you want to insult or slander anyone, including the people on LB. It’s for education purposes. Now, it’s pretty quiet there, due to the holidays. I’ve been working on asking leaders of various churches and temples to write articles for the topics section. Also, it’ll be a month or two before I can hook up a nice looking board like this one, so please bear with the basics.
Now, the meat of why I’m here.
I was told by a friend that my name’d been brought up in this thread. I came here to “see for myself.” I’m flattered at your opinions of me, those who mentioned me.
I left the LB board because of the very exclusionary attitudes, and I’ll admit…it soured me on religious fanaticism more than I already am…but let me clarify.
I’m not against Christians or Christianity. I’m against being so fanatical about it that you slip into the patterns of prejudice and hatred. I’m against being so gung-ho my way that you close your eyes to the fact that you’re being hurtful to others.
That doesn’t give those who think that fanaticism is foolish (me) an excuse to be just as bad, by insulting those who are fanatics. The friend who turned me into this site, believe it or not, is a “fanatic” I met on the LBs. She’s scared me with how un-thumperish her attitudes CAN be (though sometimes, I’d love to bop her over the head with her bible, and scream “THINK!”) I’ve grown to be very fond of her friendship.
Basically, the lesson there is “Don’t judge a Bible-Thumper by its label.”
There are some intelligent folk in LB. The problem is, they’re swarmed out by those people who brains or no, turn off thought. That’s why I left.
And because of the “drive her out she’s a stinkin’ Jew” attitude some had.
Fanatics…of any religion or sort…tend to bristle me. But the reason I post is to let you know, don’t become an “anti-Fanatic” fanatic. Then you’re just as bad.

Byteoart: Well spoken, it’s why I didn’t go there in the first place. To be a Christian means to be Christ-like and Jesus was the epitome of love, love incarnate. To be filled with hatred is to dishonour the Master you claim to follow and drive the people you claim you want to reach for Him further and further away. I am a VERY poor Christian at times so I know experientially what I am talking about. May God and the Members here forgive me for things I have posted.

For more general forgiveness, you may have to petition the church of David B. Or, ask DrFidelius for a certification of temporary insanity. Somehow I don’t think he’d object to issuing one.

Another message board I’m familiar with (I won’t mention which one, but its initials are SDMB) is still 10 minutes or so fast.
