I actually think that Sexson, while a useful player, is definitely someone who the Indians could afford to give up, because they have more than enough First Base/Corner Outfield types. Sexson has good power, but he doesn’t play defense that well, and he doesn’t draw walks. Russ Branyan might be every bit as good, or better than him.

However, if the Indians lose Manny Ramirez, they’re in big trouble–no Branyans or Sexsons will be able to replace him. Ramirez, in addition to having 50 home run power (he hasn’t hit that many homers in a season yet, but he will), hits for a good average, and draws walks.

Rigdon has talent, but he won’t be missed if Bere and Woodward pitch as well as they’re capable of pitching.
