for those who live in NYC

A co-worker of mine is planning a vacation to New York City.

What’s the cool stuff in NYC these days. We talked about Times Square, Central Park, Yankee Stadium…

Can those of you who live in the Big Apple offer some suggestions as to points of interest?

Hunt’s Point, the Bronx, is a very colorful area, rich in tradition and peopled by interesting and diverse groups.

Hey Dave, what is they want their friend back?

Spooje,
What’re their interests? There’s a wide variety of stuff - I mean, I go to ballparks and Natural History, but I haven’t set foot in an art museum in years, yuo could send them to see the “colorful” folk down in the West Village, etc. Get cut-rate play tickets at TKTS…

Go over here.

Damn. I can’t copy the url, for some reason.

It’s slythe’s thread in IMHO, “Vacation Advice Please.” Stuyguy’s been working overtime lining up sightseeing opportunities for him.

I am also heading up to new York City in December for my ‘official’ honeymoon. I am staying for 8 days and Chris and I like musicals, music, museums, big tourist attrctions, flea markets, stuff not in Florida… If I see Mickey Mouse Once in NY I’ll kill myself. Dop they let you jump of the empire State Building?
I would love to hear suggestions from other dopers in NYC. My dad is a new yorker and he keeps trying to get me to go to weird off-off broadway stuff… Wierdo

I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art at the beginning of June and it is awesome.

Tuba,

Be very careful. Disney is in Times Square, just south of the theater district, and right at the TKTS (cheap day-of-play) booth. You're gonna see it. I think your jumping chances are better on the Trade Towers. When I was up there I figured if I climbed the first fence and jumped from the top, I'd clear the second and go 1300' or so...

Try some of the off-off if you like some offbeat stuff. You missed Callista Flockhart in the Vagina Chronicles, though…

Plenty of museums around the park - Guggenheim, Met, Whitney, Nat History…(MoMA a little south, toward Rockefeller Ctr/ST Pat’s.). Park’s OK in daylight.

Come on over to this thread and we can take care of everyone all at once:
