For those who shake their money makers...

What music gets you on the dance floor?

I was always inclined to the louder/sexyer industrial tunes ala Nine Inch Nails or Sister Machine Gun.

How 'bout you?

Damn near anything, really. Although I have a soft spot for 80’s music.

I’ll just give a “me too” to what Falcon said.

It’s really not the music that gets me dancing, it’s who’s around/who I’m with. If there’s nobody fun to dance with, I’ll just kick back and watch. If I’ve got friends on the dance floor, I’ll go out and join 'em.

The only music I refuse to dance to are any songs by the Boy/Girl fad bands (Britney Spears, N’Sync, etc.)

Pretty much anything, although my favourite would be any of the Madchester-style stuff – The Charlatans, The Stone Roses, early Blur, Inspiral Carpets etc.

Yeah, the top 40 stuff wears on me somethin’ fierce. Consequently I avoid it at all costs.
80’s tunes are always fun.
A lot of techno just kinda wears me out on the dance floor. I like lyrics when I’m dancin’. Go figure.
Most 70’s tunes are so cliche’ now I can’t bring myself to dance to 'em without a little help from Mr Alchohol.
And like spoofe said, the crowd I’m with makes a big difference.

Latin music. And I ain’t talkin’ Ricky Freakin’ Martin. I mean REAL Latin music. And 80s music. And…ah, who am I kidding? I’ll shake what my momma gave me to just about anything with a 4/4 or faster.

I’m not much of a dancer, but when they’re playing that fast punk rock, I’ll party in the pit.

Hooya!

In general, I can dance to anything with a 4/4 beat and not look like a retard, as long as no one is expecting me to touch another person or do any special steps. But, if I’m going to choose something to dance to, I’m gonna go to a goth club. Whether I’m being pretentious and dancing to The Cure, or ripping the guy next to me limb from limb to the tunes of Ministry, I generally enjoy all the music there. I’m not too keen on newer industrial, and Rave/House/Techno kinda makes me want to break things (but not in the good adrenaline Ministry way). It’s too bad that Metal died as soon as my hair grew out.
