Oh, wow. There is a huge fountain right now.
V3 is the brightest, but I think I prefer V1. V2 isn’t bad, but not as good as the other 2 IMHO.
In any case, quite the fountain!

Wow. That’s the first time I’ve seen a tall fountain there that is significantly off vertical. V3 shows the launch angle and arc of flying & falling lava the best, but the sunrise happening in the background of V1 is very pretty in a different way.
@CairoCarol last posted almost a month ago, but was last reading here last night her time.
Perhaps the “all politics and all despair all the time” around here has gotten old for her. As it has and is becoming for others.
As of now (10/1/25 1300 ET = 0700 HT) we’re getting a great show with two large fountains.
V1 cam is out of service and V3 is the good view.
It seems to have kicked off around 7 hours ago = midnight HT and was fountaining merrily throughout the wee hours’ darkness.
And here as I’m typing it’s either dying off, or preparing to take a short break. But at least for now in the mainland afternoon of 10/1 you can rewind the V3 livestream back to pre-dawn and enjoy the show.
Well, there was something happening on camera V2, but it stopped in the time it took me to tab over here.
Hmm. just smokin’ now.

Right now 10/16/25 at 1725 ET = 1125HT, one of the two vents is flowing lava steadily but no huge volume. But that just restarted ~5m ago. V3 is the best view.
ETA: And no sooner do I post than it has stopped again. Rewinding, it seems the flow lasted on the order of 30m.
I’ve been checking every morning. The floor of the crater is almost undulating.
And now 10/16/25 at 1850ET = 1250HT, it’s going again. About like my report 90 minutes ago, but a smidgen more vigorous at the moment. V3 still the best view.
V3 is showing a lovely lava flow right now. We’ll see how long this lasts.
I just saw this 14m after your post. Right now (1110 ET = 0510 HT) the volume of recently erupted lava is still glowing, but not moving. Nothing is spilling over the rim of the basin.
Seems like Pele is in a mood to burp a few times a day for a few minutes and that’s about it. Until the mood changes.
I just checked and here at dawn HT on 10/26 the v3 cam shows smoking/steaming from vents other than the big 2 that have been active with lava over the recent months.
I had not noticed that activity previously. If it is new, that may presage a larger eruption or action out of those new vents. Does anyone else know if those other smoking / steaming vents are new or not?

I like that the caption for the vid at the top conflates “Russian scientists say” with moving the volcano itself from Iran to Russia.
All the other references to the volcano’s location get it right. But a bunch of the article body prose is kinda oddly stilted and disjointed.
AI slop? Or idiot humans? Hard to tell.
It’s not new. I’ve noticed smoke coming from many other places besides the main vents several times since this current episode started, usually during the quiet times after a main eruption event.
V3 has a pretty good show going on right now.
