I would hate for a hardcore fan to go see the movie and then hear people talk about what happens after the credits.
I always stay till the very end of movies. But thanks for the heas up.
Brian
Ditto. We usually stay, but now we’ll pay attention. Much grass.
Thanks for the heads-up.
Anybody have any guesses as to what it might be? I’m hoping they do something on Gambit since that would be an out of no where guess.
Good grief! The Gambit fan boys have hit the SDMB!
Just kidding…
But I’ve been checking in on the X3 forum at the IMDB (which is the slum of the internet, by the way, but that’s another story), and it seems that’s every second thread that is posted there is called “Where’s Gambit?”, usually followed by some expletives and a string of insane punctuation. Now, before the movies, I was last an X-Men fan back in the eighties and early nineties, and it seems that I’ve completely missed this whole Gambit character. What is it about him that causes such uproar?
In any case, to return to the topic, why would they put an important scene after the credits anyway? This will surely only mean that a lot of people won’t see it, as we’re used to, you know, the movie being *over *when the credits start rolling? Isn’t this just a very silly idea?
Actually, it’s a great idea. The word of mouth will spread to those who left early, and it will drive them crazy that they didn’t see it. Descriptions won’t be enough, so they will go see the movie again, boosting box office. It will also fuel the buzz for any future movies, like the Wolverine spinoff already in the works.
OK, I saw the movie today (it was a complete stinkaroo, but that’s a different debate). There were only two people left in the theater to see the final scene. I’m sorry, but I still think it’s a really horrible idea.
Tell us what it was!! Put it in a spoiler box.
I love when producers/directors do this. It punishes the jerks who don’t watch the credits. I always stay till the end, and actually read to myself as many as the names as I can (sometimes they go by fast) because all those people worked on the movie and they deserve to have someone read their name in the credits.
Plus, I love the job title “best boy.” I mean…HE’S the best boy! The best! No one is better!
I know someone who saw it. It seems - and only look if you really, really want to know- Baldy McWheelchair, who keels over about halfway through, has transferred his mind to the comatose man seen very early on in the film, as he suggested might be possible (albeit ethically questionable). Also, the old queen, who has been rendered powerless by the magic powerless-rendering serum made using the Leech boy (that kid from the weird movie Birth), may not have lost all of his powers after all as he manages to make a metal chess piece move with his finger, ever so slightly.
Can you tell that I don’t know the series and am just passing along info?
Yes, we can.
The scene where…
…Magneto moves the chess piece (and seemingly nullifies the entire plot of the movie, but that’s a different debate)…
…is the last one *before *the credits, so I don’t think anyone would have missed that one (unless they walked out on the stink-fest in mid-stink), but the one after the credits is indeed:
Professor Xavier, having transferred his mind into the body of Moira McTaggart’s comatose patient, speaks to her in his own voice from the hospital bed (apparently, he can transfer his own vocal chords along with his mind, but I won’t get into that debate either). It seems that he has cheated death thanks to a wonderful instance of cartoon logic.
Yeah, but it works for me.
Gambit fan boys? Now *there’s * a silly idea!
Actually, just hearing about the potentially-significant-scene-during-end-credits trick pleases me greatly, because it will SO greatly aggravate the [sorry, dude, it’s not the Pit] in TV/cable programming who have decided end credits should be squashed into 1/3 of the screen and run at 2X speed while playing network promos.
