Wow so town kicked some butt, nicely done. Here I was thinking fluid would turn out to the the scum boss. :smack:
I think fluiddruid also called pedescribe ‘pederast’!
And is it lead (leed) or lead (led)?!?
Have I missed something, or did sach never explicitly say that Mad was scum? If I’m playing, I’m looking askance at those who immediately seemed to know that Mad was scum. Reverse scum gloating?
Well he didn’t explicitly state such. Although ‘assassin’ certainly has a negative connotation. And if it were a pro-town role, you would think that MadTheSwine would have claimed it earlier, explaining what it was.
Unspoiled. Woot! I got one right.
I was just reading fluiddrud’s self-defence. Not bad. Not totally convincing either.
I also think at this point that MindWanderer is WAY off-base with his analysis of Nanook. My interpretation of Nanook’s actions at the end of Day 2 was that he happened to be around when MadTheSwine made his claim. There had already been a ton of discussion on believing role claims and he had no reason not to believe Mad at that point aside from his scumtastic timing.
I missed the bit where Mad false-claimed, so forget this. A Lead Assassin clearly isn’t a Cop role.
I think the false claim was a good effort. Perhaps they were trying to flush the real Detective, if there is any such role. Heck, if Mad had made his claim a few hours earlier he probably would have gotten away with it, too.
So now we have a claim of Mason from ShadowFacts, a player nowhere near being a lynch candidate today and confirmed by peekercpa. But I can see his point about wanting to be able to confirm the other Mason given his likelihood of being killed Tonight.
I guess the big question at this point is: what do the scum do with this? Do they take the power roles that have been handed to them? At this point, ShadowFacts and peekercpa aren’t really power roles anymore, but merely confirmed Townies. Should Scum go after another possible Power Role? The only one remaining is probably Detective.
I think claiming Today is a wash. Claiming Yesterday would have been the wrong choice, and claiming later than Tomorrow is waiting too long. Today has about equal benefits to disadvantages. The benefit is only that any potential Detective has a smaller pool to consider. The disadvantage is that scum also have a smaller pool to consider as well.
I would disagree with the fact that a Dead ShadowFacts would negate the power of the masons. Even if only one Mason remains, that mason can confirm the number of masons before dying. That is, the scum can’t kill both masons and claim third mason. Simply could not happen.
So, in my opinion, I don’t think Shadowfacts should have claimed; but I don’t think he hurt the town to a great extent by doing so. In fact, there is just as much chance of setting the town up for a win as there is in helping scum turn the tables.
I’m only subscribing so I can find out when the next recruitment starts - I’ve been playing in another forum and I’ve come to like the game a lot.
Um, so I guess you’re saying that their claim is valid? Not that I didn’t necessarily believe them, but there WAS the possibility that the Scum had somehow discovered there were no Masons and were making their own Monkgate.
My prediction for Today is that fluiddruid is a Simpleton.
And my other prediction is that pedescribe is a Scum.
Bad me!
Playing as the Godfather in the Blade Runner game (my first go as scum), I thought it was down to the wire myself. The last Day ended with a three-handed decidion between me, a vanilla, and a confirmed Mason.
I thought I overplayed my hand on Day One acting scummy to attract the attention of my scumbuddies (because I thought that they didn’t KNOW I was the GF, so I figured that if I acted a little scummy they would know to activate me, or to throw me under the bus for Townie cred) and I spent the rest of the game worrying that I’d screwed the Scum over.
Much, much love to Roosh in that game for running interference. He had everybody fooled. <3 <3 <3
(And incidentally, the official Mandate of Heaven ruling for the Three Kingdoms game is: Town lost, Wu faction lost, Wei and Shu faction draw.)
Wow! I got night-killed! Does that mean they thought I was the Detective?
Killing a Mason has positive value for the Mafia.
The smaller the number of unknown players the more likely that the town will lynch a townie; and the mafia still need some number of mislynches.
Last Night there were 11 players, 2 of whom were Masons. So x Mafia were trying to hide in a 9-player pool.
By killing a mason, the Mafia leave that unchanged. There are still x Mafia in 9 unknown. By killing an unknown the Mafia reduced it to x in 8.
The Mafia were trying to do one of two things. Kill the Detective, or kill one of the townies the Detective investigated. The latter would reduce the impact of the Detective’s eventual claim - but killing a Mason has the same result. The former, of course, obviates the possibility of a claim. That’s a big gain for scum.
So I believe that’s what they thought. Namely that you were the Detective or one of the Detective’s investigations.
(Disclaimer. I have not read the spoiler board or Mafia communications; this is entirely the product of my own brain.)
And a Detective claim by NAF with investigations of Blaster Master, RyJae, and pedescribe.
Interesting to see what the Scum do with this (assuming it’s a valid claim). Does one of them step up and Counter-claim? Bold choice with the possibility of revealing an ‘investigation’ that doesn’t match that player’s true role.
Or maybe NAF is scum and pre-empted a true Detective claim in the hopes of gaining some momentum.
We’ll see…
Hmm… one thing that seems very weird about this ‘closed game’ format, which I’ve only been following vaguely… even after somebody is dead, though their role name is announced, it’s still not necessarily clear what that name means in the game. What protective powers did the doctor have? Did the lead assasin have anti-informative advantages? At first, I didn’t even clue in that ‘assasin’ was the rank and file scum, since it always makes me think of exotic bad’uns in RPGs.
Not that this is bad I guess, just weird. Are games ever run in a fashion that the roles aren’t disclaimed beforehand, but part of the generic role PM is quoted every time a new role shows up dead?
A Doctor normally can protect one person of their choice every Night. So it did suck for the town to lose the Doctor so early.
I have no idea what Lead Assassin meant, but my quick guess is that they had a recruitment ability.
sachertorte specifically said there was no recruitment. He was probably just the head of the Scum team to break ties.
