Forbidden Thread for Mafia: Simpletown

Ha, well, it always helps to make a WAG after the death scene, but I cross my heart and hope to die that I had not read the dusk post when I made my guess. This gives me a warm fuzzy feeling in light of the pending Vegas Mafiafest, even if it makes me look like a cheater. :stuck_out_tongue:

You know, I was -->this<-- close to being a bad bad person and assigning roles at my whim instead of randomly. I feel bad for people who keep dying early. That includes you and One And Only Wanderers and to a lesser extent NAF. Certain roles lend themselves to longer lifespans.

Idle Thoughts has kindly set up a spoiler board.

OOPS!! Maybe the Doctor was not allowed to Self-Protect. Welcome to the Forbidden Thread, Queen of Town. Remember, no spoilers!

Hello, all. Jeez, my first foray into Mafia didn’t go too well, eh? :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder if suspecting veteran players on the basis that “they should know better” is valid. I still think that seemingly stupid ideas are more likely to be suggested by vanilla townies than scum.

I’m concerned about zuma’s posts, and not just his posts from the last 24 hours. Ever since his drunk posting incident in Sekham (M3, I think??) I’ve considered playing again and starting with a non-random vote on him. I know, I know, metagaming and all…

But even so, his multi-posts defy comprehension.

I think accusing a player because “they are experienced and know better” is useless at best and scummy at worst. The problem is that we all approach the game differently. Experienced players, both on the Town side, have had loud disagreements on what is best. If you think someone is playing poorly, say so; their level of experience is a red herring.

I often find zuma incomprehensible. It’s apparently a combination of alcohol and posting via a mobile. If he’s scum, he’ll eventually make a slip, so I can’t really complain about it from a Townie perspective. His teammates may complain about it though (whichever side he’s on).

As the saying goes, look at the motivation. You’d have to be a pretty silly scum to be so transparent. But that hasn’t stopped some players before.

I think Koldanar is a scum. I’m always suspicious of people who make a point of saying ‘Go town!’ except during the night following a successful scum lynched.

What is going on with the town? Everybody’s so quiet. Has the suspicion raised by peekercpa talking so much made everybody want to keep their head down? I don’t know much about the game, but this doesn’t seem to bode well for the Simpletons.

I’m going to put my prediction in spoilers just to be safe, but I think:

MadTheSwine is either a scum or the Detective. His comments and questions about ‘should the Detective come forward?’ are really striking me as scummy or power role looking for advice..

Of course the only time I ever correctly picked a scum was SantoRugger (nee PygmyRugger) in Sekham and no one else took notice until he posted to the wrong board and pretty much outed himself.

The players are still in a muddle. Not surprising, so early in the game.

Although the flailing will probably result in another Townie lynched, it’s helpful in the long run. At some point, scum will come under fire, and how others react to that will be useful. It’s hard for scum to treat other scum the same way they treat Townies.

If I were playing, I’d be pushing for a lurker lynch. Townies shouldn’t be lurking, even if they have power roles, and scum shouldn’t be allowed to lurk.

I have never been involved in Mafia before and am now totally hooked on this thread!! (well, the other thread, really) Newbie question: It seems that, at this point in the game, the most damning piece of concrete evidence (although obviously far from conclusive) of scumminess would be that someone voted to lynch the innocent Menocchio. Can someone explain to me why nobody seems to be bringing this up?

In the opening days of the game, when no one has their bearings (except the scum group, and perhaps some Masons) odds are that there will be what some call town-on-town violence, either in the form of lynchwagons, or town-aligned killing roles who target people who are unbeknown to be on their same side.

So, basing suspicion solely on someone having voted for known town in the early days of the game is likely to get you some false positives. It can be useful information later in the game, when combined with other evidence and information.

Welcome to the thrill of Mafia. Feel free to jump into the next game. Playing is even more heart-wrenching than watching!

To answer your question: because Townies voted for Menocchio too, since they didn’t know he was a Townie. Furthermore, scum know that voting for a Townie is incriminating and will avoid doing it. So one vote against a Townie is not enough to go on.

But after several Days, patterns can emerge. This is why it’s important that everyone vote. In the You-Solve-It game, I did a voting analysis and caught a scum because she had inadvertently voted in an anti-Town pattern . Of course, I was also scum, so that wasn’t such a great thing for our side, but the analysis was honest.

I’m sure there is at least ones cum on the Menocchio bandwagon, but Cookies is right. That information will be more helpful later on in the game.

What was the whole Rugger thing in Sekham? I got killed early on in the game and didn’t keep up with it after I died.

HAI GUYS! So, can I join all of you in here? I left the game due to time reasons, and I want to chat, but not spoil anything.

That is an interesting typo.

Okay total n00b question, was the Lead Assassin a pro-town vig role or ?

It was just Sach’s name for the Godfather.
