Forbidden Thread: Mafia V

Hehe…

Spaceman Spiff, I think we should at least give Kyrie and Queuing a chance to make response posts before we wrap this puppy up…

So several people have said they thought I had a Power role during the game… what was it about my playing style (or lack thereof) that was tipping you all off?

Boo! :frowning: Good thing there’s no karma on the dope!

I’ll be thinking up death scenes for both lynches. I want it to be epic… worthy of the cluster fuck that is Mafia V!

It may have been a cluster-fuck, but dammit, I’m glad I played.

Thanks for running the game, Blaster Master. I think you did a fine job.

::applause::

I think the Prophet should, after winning, gruesomely kill Cookies.

Looks like Firefly just started. I’ve already voted

Yay Cult!

I mean Booo Cult!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Good job Blaster Master! No to go meet my early death in Firefly. No one will ever trust me again.

I just want to echo FCOD. It may have been a clusterfuck at times, but damn was it fun. Thanks much for putting together such a great game BlaM

oohhh day 1 started in my game. Sadly I can read but not post to those boards from my phone nd my net access is down at home. :frowning:

Dangit…make it longer. : / How about…uh…fortyeight hours? Yeah! Yeah, that’s it…

Awesome game, BlaM. Thanks for hosting it!

Yay, cult!

I’m reserving spots for you (as the previous game moderator), Chronos and Mtgman (for help balancing), and Idle Thoughts (for helping with the secret boards). You all will still need to pipe up in the game-thread to confirm you want to play.

I’ll start the game-thread as soon as this game ends, but I’ll wait at least a week before starting the game. I want to plenty of time for people to sign up and digest the rules. I’d like the inevitable strategy discussions to take place before the roles are assigned.

The first thing that caught my attention was the post where you said you FoSed Hal because were still bitter about what happened in Haggle. Unfortunately, it came about a page and a half after Hal’s “Yo, Oracle, over here,” post, and I was sure that was a subtle way of drawing his attention. Also, you seemed to be discussing Oracle / Apprentice strategy a lot that day, and you said it was hard for you to cast a Day 1 vote because your “cult-meter isn’t yet calibrated appropriately.” I thought you had Apprentice written all over you!

Then, too, you cast a weak-ish vote for MHaye at the end of Day 2, then came back the following morning and reiterated your suspicions of him in stronger terms, saying you had investigated him further – which sounded like a huge breadcrumb to me. (It also made me take a really close look at MHaye’s posts, but I couldn’t find anything that struck me as scummy, so I figured you had either gotten a wrong result or he was being entirely too clever for me. Good thing I didn’t start a bandwagon against him, huh? That seems to have been the only thing I’ve done right all game, unless you count preventing the recruit, and I did that inadvertently.)

Thank you SO much, BM for this game. It was great and I had a blast.

I enjoyed the game.

However, one question still remains. Can the Believers actually win? Or is it a choice between the Cult winning and the Nonbelievers? Unfortunately I never got a read on either of the two players so I don’t know what alignment the last player is.

Well we were never given a breakdown of the total numbers in each group. I think at some point there were several people (myself included) who believed that there was one more Non-believer left after Hockey Monkey’s death. Since all deaths since that time have been Cult or Believer, there remains the possibility that one of the remaining players is a Non-Believer, one is the Prophet, and one is Cookies, although Queuing has claimed ‘vanilla townie’ in the past…

So the answer is a resounding ‘I don’t know, maybe?’

Oh, absolutely. You had me doubting myself for a while there! It occurred to me, once I sort of realized that you were definitely scum, that I had floated the possibility that Roosh was scum, and goading you and me into a M2-style fight-of-two-townies. If you had picked up on that and went with it, I would have gone after Roosh and I think probably he would have gone down. I’d have been next, and it’d have been game over.

A while back Blaster Master said that he had thought Hockey Monkey had all but won it for the non-believers. To me, this implied that there was another non-believer out there. It would therefore have to be Queuing, so it that case the Believers can no longer win (but I can, and I’ve got the burns to prove it!)

I’ll add to the thumbs up to Blaster Master for modding this game. I had a fun time, even if I was wrong on pretty well all of my reads.

Concur on the thumbs up for Blaster Master. It was a lot closer than I thought it was.
