Forecast: Storm of Century, Icy Fingers of Wintry Death, Etc.

I headed toward Seattle this morning, the dire warnings from KIRO-7 still in my head. NPR is talking about Snowmageddon and Snowpocalypse. I called the company president and got a recording advising people to maybe try coming in after 10:00 because of the snow in Belltown. So I turned back.

As I turned onto the hill leading up to my house, this is what I saw.

It made me wonder for a moment if I would make it up the hill to my house, just next to the streetlight.

I woke up to about an inch or so of snow this morning, here in Sammamish. It’s still snowing occasionally, very lightly.

Well, even if it’s not enough to give me the day off, at least it’s a good enough excuse to go into work late.

Looks like your storm is definitely heading my way. Yay, snow!

I would not want to drive around Seattle with snow on the ground – too hilly! Be careful!

Another good thing about working from home is I get to watch Australian hottie weather reporter Jenny Hogan on TV.

Woohoo, we have snow! There was about an inch-and-a-half when I got up at 7:00 this morning, but there’s more now and it’s still coming down!

I hope this doesn’t derail my wedding-cake-making plans. Hmm.

I think I waggled too hard! It didn’t snow here at all last night the way they promised us.

Ah, it’s your fault, then.

Four inches in Wallingford, and still snowing heavily.

Maybe the forecasters had a Daylight Savings Calendar or something.

Looks like the office is closing at 1400 – unless things get worse. I’ve been hearing on the news that temperatures are expected to drop later, and the roads will be icy.

We’re at 5-6 inches so far, and it’s still snowing. I felt a little guilty about taking a snow day this morning… not so much, now.

It’s not supposed to get above freezing the next few days, and we’re supposed to get more snow over the weekend- I think the roads are going to be rough for a while. Hey, more time for me to play WoW and watch movies. Hopefully the power won’t go out…

It’s snowing again in Olympia. Maybe I unwaggled without noticing it?

Yikes!

The news just said Arrrrrrrlington… sorry, it’s not 19 September; ‘Arlington’… got 27.5" of snow! It’s a good thing I turned around before I got to Bellingham!

Outside of the door leading out of my office building, two feet of snow has accumulated since late yesterday morning.

Two feet.

And it’s still snowing.

Eight inches here and no melt occuring. It took me four hours and fifteen minutes to drive home from work last night. My commute is 17 miles. What a friggin’ mess!

My commute took thirty seconds (walk downstairs, turn on computer). Ha HA!

Cervaise, is that a Nelson laugh?

The good news is I don’t have to work today. The bad news is that my work laptop is at work, so I couldn’t have even telecommuted if I wanted to.

Not Nelson; in my head it was more of a triumphant Daffy Duck sort of laugh.

It’s … um … snowing again.

Yeah, there’s a huge line of snow incoming. We’re supposed to get another 6 inches or so over the next 24 hours.

It’s not here in Sammamish, yet, but it’s pretty damn dark outside…

I heard that on the way home from Bellingham today. I suppose we’ll get snow up here, but it’s not supposed to be as heavy as down south. I hope. It was 15º when I left the house around 1100. I saw 22º in Bellingham, and it was 18º when I got home a half an hour ago.

Snow flurries expected tomorrow with a high of 29º. It looks like it’s warming up next week, which is good because I’m driving down to Coos Bay on Wednesday afternoon. Should be 34º that day.
