Fork 4, Hillary: Now it's Personal

I was wondering why Tom moved this to IMHO. It may not be much of a debate now, but wake the Clinton-Hostiles and it easily could be. To be honest, I’m happy it’s in IMHO. I can at least lower my blood-pressure slightly.

Not at this point, but soon. She’ll go on to win West Virginia by a wide margin. Then on 20 May, they will split Kentucky and Oregon. She can claim two straight victories and be in a face-saving position to step down “for the good of the party”. (Puke)

I don’t know why May 21 would be any better for her than May 7. She’ll get a split decision on the 20th just as she got on the 6th. I don’t think there is anything to gain for her by beating Obama up in WV only to drop out a week later. If she wants any future in the party, whether as VP, majority leader, or governor, she better get out while she still has the faintest trace of dignity.

Dignity is a good word, but she also needs to think about a united front for HER party, and standing behind Obama now could make for quite a united front against the Republican Machine who are both sharpening their swords and crapping in their pants. They don’t want to go up against Obama.

Yeah, I don’t get that either. doesn’t Oregon have more delegates than Kentucky? So let’s say she wins WV 60-40, then wins KY 60-40, but Obama wins Oregon 60-40, won’t she be in even a worse position delegatewise than she is now?

About the VP slot – I don’t see how Obama could offer it to her now, even if he did want to. After spending the last few months saying he’s going to change the way business is done in DC and saying Clinton is the same old game, how does he stand up in front of us now and say, “You know what, maybe we need a little of that same old game after all.” He’s made his pitch based to a large extent on honesty and personal integrity, which even a lot of Clinton supporters agree are not among Clinton’s strongest traits. While I think an Obama-Clinton ticket would have a lot going for it, I don’t see how Obama would make a case for it. What, does he say, “You know all that stuff I’ve been saying about politics as usual? Turns out, I didn’t really mean it.”

Not going to happen. The only thing that would entice Obama to even consider it would be getting her following to follow him. He can choose another VP candidate and garner the same folks by choosing wisely. I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t do that. I cannot see him asking HRC to be his VP.

That happens ALL THE TIME.

If he doesn’t have her go for the VP thing, it’s not because he’s worried about getting called out on things he said in the middle of a campaign.

I think Bill Richardson would be a great choice for him. Sort of southern. Sort of friendly, but tough. Obama’s going to have to worry about the blue-collar vote again, and I think Richardson can bring that. Hilary was able to out blue-collar Obama in this race, but she’s not going to do it to McCain.

Luckily she won’t get the chance. People thought IN was going to flock to Hill, they didn’t - thatis telling in it’s own right.

Why? $$$$$$, thats why. If she can manage to raise more than she can spend for three weeks, I imagine that’s reason enough for her. I wouldn’t even mind if she did, as long as she dials down the attacks on Obama (not that I expect her to).

?

Are you implying she’d stick in the race for PROFIT?

I hardly even pay attention to this shit, and I know she’s basically in the hole, already lent her campaign $5 million in January, and probably has to lend it more money if she wants to stay in.

If I’m interpreting what you’re saying right, that’s a ridiculous notion.

Speaking of MSNBC, on this day after such an important primary, the Morning Joe program featured a panel consisting of: Joe, Mika, Pat Buchanan, and…Tiki Barber(!!!). Fortunately, Tiki didn’t try to do much. He just sat there looking like the guy from the old 7-UP commercials while Pat described in detail how the Republican Machine is going to cut off Obama’s legs with a chainsaw. In a humorous moment, Tiki either didn’t see or completely ignored Buchanan’s attempt to connect a fist tap with him. I could almost see a thought balloon over Tiki’s head saying, “C’mon, playa, I have some dignity!”

As for Senator Clinton, I think the best thing she could do for her party is emerge as Sen. Obama’s version of Luca Brasi. The Clintons do bare knuckle as well as anybody (bare knuckle politics, I should hasten to add), and I’m sure she’d love to go after all those SOB’s who have been heartlessly attacking her and her family all these years. I don’t think the VP slot does her or Obama any good, but I agree with those who see her as a fine Senate Majority Leader.

To mount any type of serious campaign for the next three contests Hillary is going to need some serious dough she doesn’t currently have. Didn’t she recently loan her campaign more money? I’d say anything she does at this point puts her further into a financial hole, no matter how well she does in KY and WV. So, what’s the point?

If that’s it, fine. Let her pull a Huckabee and run a benign campaign, free of attacks on the front runner, until the nomination is mathematically clinched. From this point forward, she needs to lay off Obama or risk her future in the party. Stay in the race if she must, but stop carrying McCain’s water for him.

She lent her campaign another $6.4 million last month.

Ah. I thought I’d read something like that.

She was done before Pennsylvania.

It’s actually bizarre how the media have kept her afloat, even though they haven written off people in the past who had much greater odds of a nomination than she.

Fans of Hillary, and detractors of Hillary who think she has some “back room deal” in the works are both simply wrong. Obama’s lead is way too much. There’s enough light shining on the supers so that nothing untoward is going to happen.

The race is over. The MSM has a vested interest in keeping it going. They shouldn’t even have mentioned Hilary for the last month, and should be completely over it now. But, the Clintons sell newspapers, so there ya go.

Yes, but she has never counted delegates or states or even popular votes without including Florida and Michigan. She counts psychology. And being able to claim two victories to one over a two-week span will allow her to step down with things being dignified in her eyes.

Also a good choice for winning Hispanic voters, and a person with substantial foreign policy credentials. Not to mention, the guy’s got a good sense of humor, and I get the sense that he and Obama click personally too.

I’m not saying she would do it to get rich(er). I’m saying she would do it to help pay down the debt created by her campaign. So, yeah, I guess you did not interperet what I was saying right.
