Hey, I have no dog in this fight (I’m not American). It was just an observation.
That said, it was a good speech, and my respect for Hillary Clinton has definitely gone up.

Hillary went a long way to redeeming herself with this speech. This was tough for her, folks, make no mistake.
I see all her references to herself as acknowledging and recognizing what her supporters feel.
She’s right – she did accomplish a lot in this campaign, especially in advancing the notion that a woman can be a viable candidate for President. She is, afterall, the only woman in the history of this country who has ever won a state primary campaign for President – and she won 19 of them. When you stop to think about that, it really does say quite a lot about how far we have come as a nation, and should be a source of great pride.
And I like – very much – the reminder that even if she didn’t take it all the way, the progress she and her supporters have made, was still an historical accomplishment that will be looked back upon as the turning point that gave women credibility on the national stage in U.S. politics.
Brava, Hillary Clinton.
Ditto
I was making a general observation, not critiquing you.
Wow. That was good. She came off as statesmanlike (stateswomanlike?) rather than political and ambitious. Great speech.
I completly disagree that it was a good speech. She said the words what she was required to say, as far as endorsment. But in a half hour speech it was about her for most of it. A proper consession speech is half thanking supporters, and half congratulating the winner and endorsing him/her. You don’t talk about how hard YOU worked, and how important YOU are to history, and how close YOU got and how good of a president YOU would make.
CNN says there were boos in the crowd - I didn’t hear them, but the sound quality was pretty crappy on the live feed. Did anyone else hear them?
I did like the part where she addressed the supporters that might be disappointed, and how she said time spent looking back prevents people from moving forward. The more I think about her speech, the more I think she was as gracious as could be expected under the circumstances. Her face was somber in a lot of parts, but she seemed as sincere as I’ve ever seen her.
I heard them two or three times. Disappointing that there were any boos at all, but at least they were faint.
I thought she did a great job under the circumstances. She’s a tireless worker with brass balls and I respect what she’s done. Good on her.
She had to acknowledge and validate her supporters’ efforts in this historic contest. To ask them to move their support to Barack Obama without recognizing their own disappointment for the months of self-sacrifice many of them made on her behalf would have been unproductive.
We may disagree with her (and their) conclusion that she would make the best president, but we got the guy who we think would – they didn’t.
She was gracious today. Let’s see if we can live up to her example.
It wasn’t gracious. It was a campaign of extorsion for VP. Just enough for her supporters to say “She did her job and conceeded like she was supposed to, now you do yours and make her VP.” And enough to piss them off if he doesn’t.
Is in online yet?
Don’t know, but MSNBC will be re-broadcasting it in its entirety at 4PM Eastern time.
It would certainly be nice to see you do that. Let’s hope the damage from having the darker side so dominant for so long has not been irreparable.
An Arky, “balls”? :dubious: Was that necessary, or appropriate?
He’s back!
I agree. As I’ve said before, she’s a good egg. A fighter. A great American.
Fuck you.
Please take your racist comments back to New England.
Yes, even mr. plastic smile himself, Mitt Romney, failed to look happy and carefree while suspending his campaign.
No one can reasonably ask more of Hillary.
