Fork 5 - Fork Hillary. Fork her and all her flying monkeys.

It was a compliment. As far as necessary or appropriate, this is the Pit, so what?

I’m for Obama, but I don’t hate Hillary. She’s worked hard, and I respect that.

Good ta see ya Elvis. Gotcher Obama bumper sticker yet?

I believe Obama’s campaign was more Rovian than Hillary’s in this primary election. The proof is the simple fact that Obama won without the popular vote. He sold himself to the corporations and got more funding…he has thouroughlly controlled the media and propaganda- expert machination. The media declared him the winner preemptively many months ago without the votes to back it. You think it’s a coincidence, that Hillary has gotten some much bad press here and elsewhere in the media? The corporations and their propaganda wing and complex is in Obama’s back pocket. Textbook Rovian election grab.

You obviously have no intention of doing so yourself. I’m going to have a heart attack from lack of surprise.

I have watched these threads on the periphery, mostly because I hold a strong and likely irrational dislike for Mrs. Clinton.

What I have seen is passion on both sides.

I am not a traditional democrat. I am not really a traditional Republican. I usually say I am just right of center, but I feel strongly against the current administration and so I am likely now just left of center.

Rambling aside, I don’t know what is like to feel the passion that many of you do, and so I don’t know what the supporters of Mrs. Clinton are feeling today, after the let down.

Even though I don’t know how you feel, I do send a thought of support your way, for what that is worth.

In the end, let us hope - I have a strong hope - that America will start to get back on track after this election, regardless of the winner.

I suspect that no matter who wins it will be a slow turn - like turning an oil tanker. Those things don’t turn like speed boats. But let us hope that the turn begins and begins soon.

Good luck Mrs. Clinton in your future endeavors.
Good luck Mr. Obama.
Good luck America.

Only if you accept the most Clintonian numerical fudging, simply not counting four states and counting the one where Obama wasn’t on the ballot. By any reasonable accounting, even with Michigan, Obama had the popular vote by a narrow margin.

This is textbook talking out your ass.

You’re delusional. Or lying. One or the other. Pick.

And you’re a smug prick, or an asshole… pick.
No wait, no need to choose…you’re both!

Is it not a fact that Obama has been the media sweetheart and the heir appparent for some time? I don’t care who it is, or if it’s Republican or Democrat, I’m tired of the propaganda machine and corporate media deciding elections.

This is a good example of how, if you buy all the Clinton campaign’s explanations and redefine the (already vague) term “Rovian” so that it has nothing to do with Karl Rove, Obama ran an extremely Rovian campaign.

For example…

This ignores the fact that she was the overwhelming favorite right up until people started voting [oh wait, that was a caucus- it didn’t really happen] and he started doing better than she did, and even then, the networks knew she was always good for new controversy and made her chances sound much better than they were.

I can only agree with you on the fighter part.

I thought she was “the fucking Beast from Revelation”? :dubious:

Rev. Wright. “Marxist”. “Bitter”. Hillary’s supposed inevitability. The tired and inaccurate meme that he didn’t get the popular vote. The fact that because of the media he actually had to quit his church to give the congregation any kind of peace.

There has been and will be more than enough media focus on supposed negatives for Obama. The idea that he’s some sort of media sweetheart is, again, delusional.

Do you have any proof pf this?

No, it’s a matter of perception. Distorted perception. Obama supporters don’t call CNN the Clinton News Network for nothing.

I guess you missed the endless loops of Reverend Wright, the distortion of his “bitter” comment, the stretching of tenuous “associations” to 1960s radicals, the allegation that he wouldn’t be ahead if he weren’t black, amongst others.

Well, she sure could summon up a big, wide smile every time the subject was her. It’s not a big deal, but I think it would have been a better speech if she hadn’t seemed so glum when she switched the subject to talking about Obama.

It seems petty to complain about how she looked while she was conceding. The fact that she conceded should be more than enough. No one is going to be happy about having to do that.

Hillary is no longer a negative factor. She has conceded and she has endorsed Obama. My personal animosity is also suspended. Congratulations, Senator Clinton…you did indeed put about 18 million cracks in the presidential glass ceiling.

This seems like as good a place as any to ask a potentially dumb question. It was mentioned that Clinton had to “suspend” her campaign because she can only continue to raise money to pay off the campaign’s debt if it’s still technically active. But how on Earth do you raise money for a doomed campaign? Selling Hillary 08 stickers to eBayers?

Her supporters will probably want to help pay off her debt. Obama can try to fundraise for her*, both by urging the public who have contributed to him to also throw her a tenner and by twisting arms of his fellow legislators and party members. Also, her party insider supporters (her superdelegates, etc) can contribute to her campaign debt.

*Note that this is the kind of thing political junkies like the habitues of the Fork threads mean when we talk about Hillary negotiating for Obama to pay off her campaign debts. Obama cannot pay off her debts from his own campaign funds…that would well exceed the individual contribution limits. He can, however, use his personal persuasive power and his position as the head of the party to get people to throw some cash her way.

And that assertion, offered without any apparent sense of irony, shows that there is still much work to do.

Okay, who had “46 minutes” in the betting pool?

You don’t. You can raise money for a senior legislator whose favor you may wish to have in the future, though.
