Form a Supergroup from Survivors

Since both The Beatles and The Monkees are both running at 50% capacity, it occurred to me that they should merge, thus ending all those tedious arguments about which was the better band. Seriously, who wouldn’t want to see Ringo Starr and Micky Dolenz duelling drum solos?

What other aging rock stars would you like to see recycled in this manner? To qualify, you should only pick from bands who have lost at least a couple members.

Paul McCartney, Pete Townsend, Ringo Starr, Roger Daltrey.

[OT] Yanno, it’s interesting that after the very early loss of Brian Jones, the Stones are all survivors. Keef is never gonna die, of course, since he’s regularly infused with the blood of virgins, but the rest of 'em … whoda thunk? [/OT]

Nitpick (but not to the surviving members): Davy Jones is the only member of The Monkees who is deceased.

They did also lose Ian Stewart, who was a de facto Stone.

As for combining the surviving Beatles and Monkees, someone else suggested adding the remaining Gibb brothers and calling the band the BeaKees.

Dave Grohl should be a part of any such band.

Good spot, for some reason I thought Michael Nesmith had kicked the bucket. I guess we should drop the “two dead members” guideline.

Richard Carpenter + KISS

Oh, hell yes! We can start making supergroups featuring the other Loverboy guys!

Someone start us off.

Who’s Left!

How about Led Doors?

Robert Plant on vocals
Jimmy Page on guitar
John Paul Jones on bass
Ray Manzarek on keyboards
John Densmore on drums

But wouldn’t that mean Ringo would have to get his own son fired???

(Zak Starkey is the Who’s current drummer, isn’t he?)
