I too am a bit bemused about the “horrific” warning. Am I so jaded that I just don’t bat an eyelid at horror these days or were the details not all that horrific?

They weren’t horrific. Depressing, yes, but that should apply to any murder. Someone must’ve had a case of the vapours.
