An incident that triggers a safety car should lead to an automatic red flag, when it happens during the last e.g. 5 laps.
Barring debris or barrier damage, I disagree. That’s NASCAR shit. The leader had 17 second lead. Had Danny pulled into the pits and retired, the outcome would have been just as boring. I don’t like manufactured fake drama to determine the outcome of a 50+ lap race in the last 3 laps.
It is now standard procedure for Ferrari to abandon Plan A on the formation lap.
Agreed. I’ll take boring and disappointing over contrived.
I remember “The Good Old Days” when half the field would DNF, cars on the side of the track might get a local yellow until the driver hopped over the guardrail. And there it sat till the end of the race.
…and people burned to death on live TV…ah yes. The good times.
Oh, quit exaggerating! There was usually some sort of tape delay. ![]()
Disney, which owns ESPN, and DISH are feuding over $$, and I so far have missed qually, going to miss my football game tonight and the race tomorrow.
Goddammit!!!
Anybody know a site I can watch F1 on my pathetic tiny screen laptop over Dixie-cups-on-string internet?
ESPN.com? You might need to login with your DISH account, if you know it.
I jumped through 100 flaming hoops, and actually finally managed to get logged in with my dish account on that site, but nothing is happening. I’ve got qually cued up but it Just sits there…
Dish dropped all the Disney channels because they couldn’t come to an agreement on renewing their deal
Yeah, I’m gonna have to log in with something other than a dish account… hint, hint.
Well, I guess Disney and Dish have kissed and made up. I was able to keep my record going and logged onto ESPN to watch the race.
Fuck. What a lousy way to watch a race. Ran about 10 seconds, then it buffers for another 5 or six, chops up the audio, runs slow for no discernable reason. It actually crapped out once about 20 minutes in and I had to start over. You could skip ahead, but for some reason, could not skip back. So, I missed what happened to Alonso, if anything worth noting. It was awful. But nice to see 2 Ferrari’s on the podium.
So, is this what “Streaming” is? Must call it that because it’s like getting pissed on.
I can watch the ESPN replays using a Roku, and other than the fact that ESPN always seems to make me log in every single time (I have to go to the Activate - WatchESPN site), once I am in it works flawlessly. But I have it connected to pretty fast wired internet.
Great drive by Checo. Max had a hissy fit though, for having a single race of the sort Hamilton has had all year. Hamilton isn’t enjoying it either, but handles it with much more grace than Max.
If you still need it for the next race, PM me for my F1TV login info.
Only if you have shitty internet from the 90s.
I have shitty internet from the 80’s.
Only 45 minutes ish of racing, but it was exciting, despite max completely dominating. He definitely deserves this title even though I dislike him.
Suzuka never fails to entertain. Glad I wasn’t there. But wished I was.
Have to agree.
In case anyone was unaware, the intention of the rulemakers was that such a (shortened) race would not award finishers full points. But due to a drafting error, it turned out full points did have to be awarded. The person in charge of drafting the rules? A certain Mr Masi. Ah well, at least this time his fuck-up only foreshortened the competitive season, rather than completely changing its outcome like last year.
