Formula 1 2024

You’re easy.

How do you feel about the Leclerc fiasco?

I don’t even know what the hell they were doing, there. I’m just hoping for Carlos to keep piling up points and parlay that into a real seat for next year, some how. I really think he is getting a Royal Butt-Ram.

I’m just gonna say before I go out to tend my garden and drink excessively, that display of unprofessionalism is really goddamn sad. Max is gonna win the championship. Would it really have killed him to run a clean race and take second? C’mon, Man! Give us a show. This is shades of the Prost/Senna bullshit from years ago. A dark day for the sport.

You deserve your excessive drinks, sir. Cheers!

The team principal of McLaren, Andrea Stella, pointed out that this is just a replay of Verstappen in 2021. Stewards let his bullshit slide and slide and slide and then he’s driving 50 feet off the track to back out Hamilton and ending up on his roof in Monza.

This has nothin’ to do with Deserve…

BANG!

It was said at some point over the weekend that the track was modified so that the gravel traps in some corners were modified to be exactly 2 meters from the white line defining the edge of the track. That way, it was obvious when a car exceeded the limit, and it wasn’t to their advantage to do so, anyway. I like that; I’ve long thought that the lines were rather farcical with the cars going outside them so often.

However, does this mean we’re locked in to two-meter-wide cars for the foreseeable future? I was sort of hoping that the next rule changes would start shrinking the cars down a bit. If the cars slim down to 1.8 meters, how hard would it be for the Red Bull Ring to cut that buffer strip and bring the gravel 20 cm closer to the track?

Didn’t they mention that the the gravel was temporary due to the track also running MotoGP? So I guess they add and remove the gravel strips as needed, so altering the position shouldn’t be to much trouble.

Tracks are easily modified for the event.

I did not hear that. Is all the gravel removed for motorcycle races? What goes in its place?

They’ll replace it with concrete or asphalt. They have six weeks, and the pits aren’t that big.

From 2026 the cars will be 1.9m wide.

Thanks. 10cm doesn’t seem like much, but it is 5% thinner than the current spec. I skimmed the article, but didn’t see if the length had changed.

I wonder what effect it will have on lap times and passing.

In a bid to create a more agile racing machine, the maximum wheelbase has been reduced by 200mm to 3400mm while the width has been cut by 100mm to 1900mm.

Weight has been shaved off too, with the 2026 cars set to have a minimum weight of 768kg, down 30kg on their counterparts from 2022.

The FIA also say that downforce has been reduced by 30% and drag by 55%.

Pirelli’s 18-inch wheel size introduced in 2022 will remain, however the width of the 2026-spec front tyres has been reduced by 25mm and the rears by 30mm compared to the previous generation of cars.

Good news!

My favorite part:

"Another fan said, “It’ll be great to get a break from your mundane generic comments.” "

Verstappen looking ordinary this weekend for the first time in a long time. And not incidentally, there are three Brits in the first three grid spots.

I can’t help wondering if Lewis is leaving Mercedes for Ferrari at just the wrong moment.

To be fair, he had floor damage. But whatever the reason, I’m happy for George and everyone in the top 3.

Fan-fucking-tastic race! Beginning to end it was edge of the seat stuff. Even if Max had won, I wouldn’t even have been mad.

Im curious if Hamilton would have been better off giving lando drs at the end. But I guess it didn’t matter.

Fantastic race. Red Bull never seem to ever get the strategy wrong do they? This time it wasn’t enough.

Anytime is the Right Time to driver for Ferrari.

Well… They did just extend Perez’s contract!
