"Forward Command Post"---Ha! Already thought of!

Snopes posted today about a “Forward Command Post” GI Joe playset that’s being sold at J.C. Penney’s. (I can’t link to Snopes, but you can check it out there.)

Apparently, some people are up in arms (heh heh…I kill me) about this. I find nothing surprising about it…because my nephew did the same thing in the '80s!

I had several dollhouses. Two I made myself; they’re in storage. The third was a POS called “Smaller Home and Garden”. It was okay for what it was, but it deteriorated very fast. The upper floor had no support, so it caved in, and the wallpaper started peeling off…You get the idea. Well, it was in the basement when my sister and nephew were visiting, and he was at that age where you don’t go anywhere without your G.I. Joes. He had the bright idea to bivouac them in the dollhouse, since it already looked like it belonged in a war zone, and he liked it so much I let him take it home! I didn’t want it back, and he got a lot of use out of it.

So I understand that some people are upset because this playset is “making war too realistic” or whatever…but really, with the war-news saturation that’s going on, what do you expect? If someone didn’t manufacture this playset, kids would be making their own.

And we certainly can’t have kids using their imagiantions, now can we?

Oh, phooey, Vanyel. The toy manufacturers aren’t giving kids ideas, is what I mean.
