Forward, March! in the MMP

Happy Thorsday!

It’s a overcast 23 degrees outside with a high projected of 33. Then it’s supposed to get warmer, up into the 50s over the next few days. Probably just a tease to get out hopes up that spring is coming.

Nothing special going on today. I’m tired because I didn’t sleep well.

Thanks for the beads Doggio

Spidey Spidey Spidey it’s those kind of remarks

But being an adult means you can eat cake for breakfast, and no-one can stop you!

Sending in my beekeeping membership form for the year today- I’m being optimistic., and getting the category for people with bees, rather than the associate membership like last year. You can’t change without repaying for the whole year, 'cos it’s a pain in the neck for them (as it includes insurance), so I’m taking the leap of faith. I do have somewhere I could put them, and somewhere to store gear now, so it is possible!

Anyway, I must brave the outside, and away to the post office.

nuts if you could figure out how to juggle bees, that would be impressive!

What? The idea amuses me!

Warnin’s of localized floodin’ have been issued. Joy. This could transform my twelve mile commute to the orifice into a thirty mile commute. That’s one way. ICK!

I know that feeling. Being an adult means getting up and dragging myself to work. I mostly enjoy my job (biggest grumble is that I don’t have enough to do to stay usefully occupied between calls), I just hate the commute and the “get up at 0-dark-30” part.

Swampbear, the history lesson was nice and all that, but I think I was mostly curious about differences in doctrine and practice :D.

Sahirrnee, I know the feeling. Even without a big, albeit short, thunderstorm, I didn’t sleep well either.

I am so upset, the justice system is screwed up.

My poor friend is in tears, the one whose son-in-law tried to kill her daughter. I kept quiet about the details waiting to see, not wanting to put anything out here that could cause any problems.
The son in law had his plea hearing yesterday and got 2 years probation. Two years probation for attempted murder.
This was as the cop put it ‘not domestic violence gone wrong’. This couple had no prior domestic violence. He tried to kill her, and told her he was going to kill her and told her how he was going to dispose of her body. He knocked her on the floor, sat on her chest, put his knee in her throat and shoved two fingers up her nose and covered her mouth with his other hand. Not only did he do this, but every time she started to black out he let her breathe because as he said he was enjoying it (watching her die) too much to let her die, and so he did it over and over and over. It was during one of the breaks when he let her breathe that she managed to get away.
And he gets 2 years probation and the ankle bracelet comes off.
She needed plastic surgery on her nose and her ear could have had permanent damage.
I know people who have spent more time in jail for traffic violations.
Sorry I am so upset, my friend is crying, worried for her daughters safety and that the SOB got off with just a slap on the wrist. He doesn’t even have to pay the fines or court costs.
What a fucked up justice system.

May I ask in which state this took place? Because I’m going to guess it’s one of the Red states south of the Mason-Dixon line. It’s fine with me if you don’t want to say.

Maryland.
You know OAOASO got more jail time when when of his exes falsely accused of him of threatening her. I guess it pays to be a white male in this state.
You just don’t know how fucking disgusted I am.
He’s got a two year restraining order to stay away from her, it ain’t worth the paper it’s printed on.
I’m taking the day off and going over to visit with my friend, she is shaking and crying, from hurt, from anger, from worry.

Sar I just don’t know what to say. You’re a good friend for goin’ to be with her today. I just hope and pray she remains safe from him.

Nettie really there are not a lot of differences in doctrine and practice. In the Episcopal Church we do elect our leaders. Presiding Bishops are elected at General Convention, Bishops are elected by individual Diocese, Vestries are elected by local Parishes (churches) to be the business/legal entities of the local Parish. Anglican and Episcopal agree on the same Sacraments of the Church, with Baptism and Holy Communion bein’ the big two. Vestries call Priests to serve the local Parish with the blessin’ of the Diocesan Bishop. Bishops ordain Priests and Deacons. Bishops perform Comfirmation and Reception into the Episcopal Church. The role of Bishops is essentially the same throughout the Anglican Communion. The Episcopal Church is a bit more democratic what with the election of leadership and all. The Anglican Church and the Episcopal Church both hold to Apostolic Succession and recognize Bishops, Priests, and Deacons as the three types of Clergy. The Episcopal has been the leader in ordaining women as Clergy with the CofE a close second. Anglican Churches in some countries do not ordain women. Being a part of the “Worldwide Anglican Communion” does not mean we all adhere to the same beliefs. Personally I tend to thumb my nose at the “WAC” and the ECUSA has kinda sorta done so itself on several occasions. Then again I’ve been known to thumb my nose at my own Bishop when I think he’s bein’ an idiot, though for the most part he’s a pretty good guy.

Got some sleep, now I’m up and caffeinated. Working late shift tonight.

We do Fireball at our tailgates. And I was awake for the mess.

Last or first? I forget.

That answers that.

Thank you** Doggio, Rosie**

Me too Swampy me too.
I’m really afraid if he gets the opportunity he is going to finish what he started. Something very very wrong with that man. In hindsight some of the warning signs were there, I told my friend a while back that he was up to something but I never thought it would be this.

I’m sitting here air drying a bit before I get dressed, it’s icky to pull sweat pants/shirt onto a damp body. I don’t know what we are going to do today, maybe ride out to Hagerstown and ride around. Or maybe Harpers Ferry. Just do something to keep her busy and and let her cry and vent.

And the winner of today’s most TMI post is…

OK, they’re talkin’ about closin’ the little bridge over my main road to da cave. This is a low bridge built over where two creeks converge and dump into the Flint River. Thus I shall shortly betake myself to da cave. I called OYKW to tell him that if the bridge is closed to not think about comin’ out as that would make for a sixty mile round trip which is a kinda silly trip to make no matter how much we want to see each other. We are two pragmatic souls.

The thing is, although it’s rainy, it’s not a hard rain but with all the rain we’ve had recently the ground is saturated and the river and the creeks are way up, so it won’t take much more rain to start floods in low areas.

Four years ago we were in a drought. The past two years we’ve had excessive rains. Go Figure.

Pictures, or it didn’t happen. :dubious:

Howdy from da cave! It’s 45 Amurrkin out, rainy, and cold. Glad to be here even if’n I am still at irk.

Hurrah! I am finished at the probation service, nine days in the technomological wilderness is over and I will be back working at the uni next Wednesday. Until then, I am spending a long weekend in Scotland, and having a bonus day off as well.

I feel better already…

BooFae killded the mmp!

(I unkillded it)

Is it possible to be sick and not feel sick? I have been sneezing, coughing, and blowing my nose all day long - my poor nose is raw!! But I don’t feel sick. It was scary when driving home - I got a sneezing fit, and that’s bad because you reflexively close your eyes when you sneeze. Not terrible for a one-shot deal, but for several in succession…

I’ve got a big pot of soup started - it’ll be veggie-beef when I’m done. With tons of leftovers. I’m definitely in a soup mood.

I ran the car thru the carwash this morning - it’s now free of salt and ick. That should guarantee a blizzard of epic proportions!

Happy Thursday - 2 weeks till I meet **sari **and Jim! I’ve already met tugig, but it’ll be nice to see him again!

Beast stew and cornbread for dindin. The bridge did not get closed after all. A couple bridges upstream have been closed so might happen yet.

Two weeks, yeah
