Foton Pearled Candle--anyone actually tried it?

This candle company looks like a good gift for someone on my list, but I no longer trust online reviews. Has anyone tried their products? https://fotoncandle.com/

Here’s an example:

Thanks.

I haven’t used them, and mostly buy special-purpose candles (birthday, Hanukkah, yartzeit, Sabbath) but what would you hope to get from a review? Is the vessel reusable? Does it smoke excessively?

Do you like them or not? Does the wick work like they show in the ads? Are they somehow a pain in the ass?

I get ads for those and have been mildly curious myself.

Their website is rather useless at telling you just what the heck it is. I’ve never seen their commercial, and the OP did not provide any details. We do like candles though.

What the heck is it?

Okay, having followed the link, and learned that the gimmick is that they sell tiny balls of wax and wicks, with the idea being you can reuse old candle vessels, and at the end of the evening, you pull out the used wick and the puddle of melted wax next to it, so you can drop in a new wick and have it look new again, the next time you use it …

Speaking as a bit of a pyromaniac, who often puts bits of wax next to a candle wick to melt it into the candle, I’m certain it works, unless it’s a bizarrely low quality wax or something. But any ordinary wax would work as they show it. I’ve used hard waxes, soft cheap waxes, beeswax… You would want to blow out the candle and then wait perhaps 5-10 minutes for the molten wax to cool enough that it is easy to remove.

And I’d think that it would be a total nightmare if you spilled one, and had little balls of wax everywhere. You’d miss a few when you cleaned up, and then those would attract dust and get stuck in and on things.

I can’t guess whether the scents are nice. But if the idea appealed to me, and i didn’t have pets or children likely to overturn a “candle”, I’d give it a try.

That didn’t occur to me and for that reason I am definitely going to pass. Excellent point.

Hahaha. Yeah, that would be a real mess. I once spilled a big jar of pepper corns, I cleaned it up of course. We found the ‘escapes’ for years.

I also spilled the contents of a 3 hole hole punch into a heating duct. It was and accident. Would be a good prank to play on someone though. I think the have all blown out by now. It was kind of fun. HVAC turns on, instant party.

Even worse if it’s the special Gwyneth Paltrow model.

These questions, for example. Do the scents smell okay or highly artificial? How quickly do they burn in actual use? Are they pretty? Is the whole company just a scam and therefore will I never receive the product and have my credit card information stolen?

Well, YMMV. I find the website quite extensive and explanatory. It’s a candle made with small wax beads. I know what it is; my question is for anyone who’s actually used it.

I have to click an image to get a mystery prize. Um, no.

That is hilarious! I wish I had someone I disliked enough to do this to. I don’t envy you having to clean them all up!

No you don’t. There’s a button to bypass that.

Sorry. I don’t get that popup or requirement. Amazon also sells them if you’re curious.

I had a lot of trouble getting past that. The button to avoid it wasn’t at all obvious on my phone.
