Four Seattle police officers ambushed and shot dead

According to the local TV news, Clemmons was found in a stolen car by a routine patrol. He confronted the officer with a gun taken from one of the four murdered officers. The officer shot him.

He had an abdominal wound that probably would have killed him within a few hours. An autopsy will determine if that wound was from the the officer shot yesterday.

Current word is that three people are in custody for rendering criminal assistance (driving the getaway vehicle, medical care, cell phone[s], money, etc.). They expect to charge seven or eight eventually.

I am so glad that this piece of scum, who never ever should have been let out of prison, is dead. I’ll saying it again: I AM GLAD.

Who posted this guy’s 150k bail?

“Should he be found responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington state,” Huckabee’s office said in a statement Sunday night.

And interesting that Huckabee passed the buck, according to the linked article. No Mike, you don’t have any responsibility whatsoever. Sleep well.

He was mentally ill. Dangerous, sure, but moral judgements are meaningless. It could happen to anybody.

I totally disagree. I think he was a total psychopathic, without a conscience. He did want he wanted and if other people didn’t like it, they were to blame.

Science and psychology have yet to find a way for a person to grown a conscience. I doubt that it’s even possible.

No, he was psychotic. There’s a difference.

I am amused that you need not have sufficient actual evidence to support your conclusions. The mere fact that you want something to be is enough for you.

I’m calling bullshit on the mentally ill part. Clemmons was a person who did what he wanted to and went through the motions to get what he wanted. He got clemency from Huckabee after he claimed he had changed, then goes to prison for child rape and beating up an oficer, gets out on bail and cold bloodedly kills four innocent people?

Conscience doth not make cowards of us all. Consciience makes up act like reasonable human beings, which Clemmons didn’t.

And I am glad he is dead.

I doubt it.

The investigators themselves said he was psychotic.

Point of order.

Were they speaking off the cuff or did they mention that at some point the guy had been legitimately diagnosed as psychotic or described as such by a doctor? It’s an important distinction, since one is a diagnosis, the other is just a description.

So the investigators were lying when they said he was psychotic?

Why would that be so hard to accept? Why the emotional need to believe he was sane? Sometimes people go crazy and it’s nobobody’s fault. The Texas Tower shooter was normal until he got a brain tumor. Not everybody is morally culpable for their actions. I see events like this as natural disasters, like earthquakes. It’s not like anyone chooses to be mentally ill.

And the guy was still running? Day-um. He must have been weapons-grade crazy to be able to do that.

What I want to know is, who the fuck was helping this guy, since the police have already arrested people who aided and abetted him? I hope for their own sake they only did so because they suspected if they didn’t they would have several new holes in their body.

Again, was this a diagnosis or at least speculation from a trained profiler?

They said he was “motivated by visions that he was Jesus Christ and that the world was on the verge of apocalypse.” That was the conclusion of investigators in the earlier child-rape case. I’m assuming that investigation involved a psyche evaluation.

If he indeed believed those things, then he was ipso facto psychotic.

Clemmons had a long history of criminal behavior. He didn’t “suddenly go off.” Sociopathic behavior does escalate, usually starting small and increasing as the person needs bigger thirlls.

Son of Sam blamed a dog and this guy blames Jesus.

Thank you, doctor…

No, he THINKS he’s Jesus (and the fact that he had this delusion and was motivated by it is stated as a fact by investigators), and what does “suddenly going off” have to do with it. Psychosis doesn’t have to be sudden.

It doesn’t take a doctor to simply know the definition of a word.
