I agree that this is the most likely scenario, and have never said otherwise.
I haven’t.

Ok, ok. But as I said on day 1, “I try to delay bar-room judgment until at least 72 hours after the story breaks.” We’re at the 48 hour mark now and I think I’m willing to opine that no evidence will emerge that the deceased were anything like the Oakland Riders, to take an example of egregious police behavior.
Probably not, but it was only fair to wonder two days ago why a bunch of cops would be non-randomly targeted and ambushed for assassination.
Since the shooter is dead, we probably will never know why.
Ok, but just to make my POV clear, I am willing to engage in blanket characterizations of current events. I just like to wait a couple of days before rushing to judgment.
It’s my impression that DtC’s remarks from 2 days ago were couched in tentative terms. It seems that others either read more into them or simply didn’t want to countenance the idea that a few cops are crooked and lead excessively violent lives.
So, him telling his friends and family that he was going to kill some cops doesn’t count as knowing? He was up on a third strike, out on bail.
We also don’t know if the cops were aliens from Betelgeuse, and the shooter was from the future, sent here to save us from an invasion.
Fair enough, maybe I’m reading too much into things myself - it’s been a long day.
I hate when that happens.
That’s not nearly as amusing as you believe.
GOT the motherfucker.
Huzzah! He’s dead!
And instead of tying up the legal system with his prosecution, all his accomplices can instead each have their own system of trials and appeals to tie up the legal system, and spend your tax dollars! Then again, you don’t pay taxes, so it all works out again!
I love it when a plan comes together. Wheeeeee!
How do you breathe like that? I’ve read about a headless chicken that lived for a while, but didn’t realize that human beings could continue to function without a cerebral cortex.
Here’s tentative for you:
He doesn’t say, “Maybe they were involved in some kind of drug dealing/kiddie porn/underground terrorist cell deal that went wrong,” he suggests that the officers “had it coming” for unspecified reasons, and then follows on in successively more convoluted attempts to rationalize why this was a justifiable implication. This is an unqualified statement that has no basis in any knowledge or even informed speculation, and is pointlessly offensive to brother peace officers, the families and friends of the slain officers, and posters here who live in nearby communities and were upset by the attack. At best, this is unbridled and baseless conspiracy theorizing akin to the people who believe that the Oklahoma City bombings were performed by the ATF to justify gun seizures or whatever; at worst, it is blatant trolling for responses. The successive attempts to justify and rationalize this statement approach a pathological degree of narcissism for the inability to admit to error or consider the viewpoints of other people.

One thing is certain. This asshole shooters “friends” are not going to have a very happy time ahead of them.
That’s assuming they had knowledge that they were abetting a killer. Don’t forget, the cops weren’t even calling him a suspect for the first day or two. They didn’t necessarily know what he had done.
Yeah, they probably just thought he was a stockbroker down on his luck in this wintery economic climate.

Why would they necessarily know he had shot some cops? Let’s not Dr. Mudd these guys. They deserve due process too.
