Four Seattle police officers ambushed and shot dead

Who was gut shot.

Do they prosecute relatives for helping a fugitive? Will they incarcerate his parents and siblings?

Quote taken out of context. Gratuitously. Let’s replay it in full to -you know- fight ignorance and everything.

I read that last sentence as saying we don’t know squat -we can’t rule out squat- when the news story is a few hours old. So rantings about how the perp was going to be living the high life in prison yada yada were shall we say premature, deranged perceptions aside.

To be complete DtC followed it up with saying that we couldn’t rule something like that out, given that reports said that they were “targeted”. Or, as DtC qualified: “It makes me wonder. Or maybe I’ve just read too many James Elroy novels.”

Sheesh.

Well, I used to try and tell Dio about how you attract more flies with sugar than with vinegar. Then he asks me why I want to attract flies in the first place, and wouldn’t shit work better than any of them?

So he’s a smart-ass. A lot of us can relate.

Just popping in to say good fucking riddance to that piece of human trash.

Seriously. Aiding and abetting a cop killer is not a particularly great plan for success.

Responding to hyperbole with even more exaggerated (but not obviously ironic) embroidery, then spending countless posts trying to rationalize it as reasonable speculation does not make it any less offensive or, frankly, idiotic. And Diogenes the Cynic has clearly indicated that has no empathy for nor wishes to consider the viewpoint of anyone who finds his statements egregious, gratuitous, or offensive, which marks him as either being an extreme narcissist or an intentional troll. His continued justification of this statement on the basis that absent any other information (other than that the peace officers were targeted for being peace officers), we should seriously consider the possibility that they were highly corrupt and therefore “[had] it coming”, plus his proud self-identification as being “happy as a pig in shit” in being the focus of angered disagreement about the semantic and and literal interpretation of his statements (his singular defense being “I didn’t break any rules, moron,”) reinforces this image.

Stranger

If you don’t mind, I’m going to circle back to a previous statement.

Disagree. DtC was more than willing to qualify his remarks, in the face of mostly hostile posts. I gave an example above. What he does less of is compromise in terms of tone. But as another poster noted, this is mostly an RO thread, with perhaps one partial exception IIRC.

I don’t have any sympathy for the perp, but I don’t feel especially surprised or betrayed when I read news reports of mayhem. My interest in news stories that are empty of policy content is limited. Admittedly, most part company with me on that account.

He wasn’t qualifying his remarks. he was trying to back out of a complete fuck up he made by shooting his mouth off.

Funny thing is, those two things look remarkably alike. I’ve done them both, and the distinction is pretty subtle.

Do the dead police deserve due process?

Anyway, I’ve encountered plenty of people who think cops, merely by being cops, “have it coming.” Obviously, the shooter in this case took that concept to the extreme.

My personal opinion is that if you are sentenced to die, you should be killed in the same exact way as your victims were. This is one lovely case where it actually pretty nice happened that way.

But, yes, for a mass murderer/serial killer I would certainly be willing to pull the switch or press the button.

And let’s not forget Clemmons’s was out on bail for raping a 12 year old child.

No I wasn’t. I didn’t fuck up. I said nothing inappropriate.

Are they charged with anything? What is the relevance of this question?

And if you happen to be busy that day, I’ll be happy to fill in for you.

Because he wasn’t alone? Someone was waiting for him outside!

What method would you employ to ensure 100% certainty that you were killing the right guy?

And really? They should be killed the same way? You can’t see an 8th Amendment problem there? The Constitution means nothing to you?

Well, if they knew then they knew. I’m not saying let them go, I’m saying they’re entitled to due process.

Methinks DtC should try reading up on the case before making arguments. First arguing about Clemmons being psychotic although all he was diagnosed with was stress; now this.

You disagree that they should receive a trial?

And building strawmen.
