Fox News Blooper

Thanks to Drain Bead for pointing this out- a blooper from a Fox News report about Jennifer Lopez.

A must listen/see. If you think you had a bad day, imagine doing this on live TV.

Yeah, I was watching Fox News and saw that live. Under the circumstances, the guy did a pretty good job of recovery. I guess something about J-Lo messed with his mind. Or messed with his something. Whatever, watching it live, my first impression was that I felt sorry for the guy, doing that on TV. It didn’t get funny to me until a while later.

John Carter, Tar Tarkus. Am I on Barsoom!? I can’t believe it took me this long to find other E.R.B. fans. cool.

And, you know, that’s first thing I think whenever I see J-Lo. Something about her face…

that’s Tars Tarkus. sorry, must get coffee

ROFL. That’s hilarious. One question; what is a “curb job”?

I’ve always referred to hitting the curb when you’re parallel parking as a “curb job”, and that’s the only way I’ve heard it used.

Either way, that’s funny stuff.

I’m stuck for the weekend with a 56K modem setup that won’t download and play the link posted above. If that link contains “curb job” at the critical point, it’s been altered. In the live segment, he said: “blow job” very clearly. It was unmistakable.

NoClueBoy: Welcome to the SDMB. You’ll find not only E.R.B. fans here, but fans of just about any sci-fi writer you can think of. Enjoy.

Well, he says so and so will be getting her “a curb job, not a blow job…err…block party” or something like that.

Again, what’s a “curb job”? I listened and I think it’s supposed to mean something like “kick her to the curb”-- But that was the first time I’ve ever heard someone say curb job.

How long do you think that guy’s gonna hear it?

No, he says both. He says something like “She’ll be more likely to get a curb job than a blow jo… uh, block party”

OK, what you describe sounds like what I recall. The “blow job” was very clear on my TV.
As for what a curb job is, I’m lost too. To my knowledge, I’d never heard the term before.

I can’t get the link to work. By the way, which newscaster uttered this blooper? It sounds a little like Shepard Smith. He’s always ad-libbing and saying bizarre things.

Never mind—got the link to work (much thanks to Virtual PC!).

Yes, it was Shepard Smith, indeed. Who else would it be? This guy is so unflappable, yet he says some of the most bizarre things. I am still laughing. Only Smith could pull that line off.

The best [art is, being Fox, he’ll prbably get a promotion and his own smack-mouth TV show!

There’s a thread about this in MPSIMS, too, that follows just about exactly the same trajectory. Nobody there could explain the ‘curb job’ term, either.

If that link doesn’t work for you, try this one:

I think a “curb job” is similar to getting “curb stomped,” in which someone puts your upper jaw on a curb and then stomps on your head.
