Frank Shuts Down A Thread

Don’t mind him–he’s just peeved that I don’t recognize his title as King of the Pit. He’ll continue his crusade until I bow down to the throne or he runs out of cliches to fire at me, whichever comes first.

Okay. The mob – the tiny, little mob – has spoken.

I’d still rather the policy was to grant a few hours for a thread to find an audience and contributors, even if they had to take a few liberties with the title: heck, even posts about Czarcasm’s mole people would have been fun there. And since the cost of a thread’s not finding an audience is practically zero, I think it would be nice to allow Nature to take its course on these things just on the chance that something worthwhile might happen. I even think that most people, if the issue were separated from this thread, might agree that shutting down a non-rule-breaking thread after only twenty minutes is a little extreme. But if I’m in the minority here, so be it. I lose. I said so twenty posts ago. However, there’s always the post that’s just too much fun to ignore:

If s/he’s talking about the five posts in a row that disagreed with me, s/he was number six. But forget that departure from reality: s/he’s still recovering from having proclaimed an IMHO “rule” more imaginary than her/his own username. Besides, if the 'lump thinks that’s a pile-on, for his/her own sake s/he’d better continue his/her policy of never ever posting anything even slightly memorable. But soft! S/he barrels on:

Well, would-be demagogues don’t have to be smart, but it helps if they can tell which side of the insult has jelly on it: in this case, it is I who wanted the thread left open so the creativity of the SDMB membership might save a thread, others who lacked such confidence. The 'lump, as many will recall, was the only one suggesting (bogusly, but still) that such creativity might be against the rules. That’s the spirit that wins ball games! But it doesn’t do much to burnish the side that’s issuing most of the general as well as most of the personal insults. Fortunately, as it turns out, the insult isn’t really even sincere – it’s just a segue to:

Sayin’ that, well, what? This threat? This warning? This announcement about other people’s memories means that…you should use apostrophes if you want others to take you seriously? That you should be on the side defending the SDMB membership’s intelligence and creativity? That you, personally, have a long memory, when you can’t even remember the SDMB rules, or even that there’s a button you can click so you can read them before posting? Please, quickly, make something up, something plausible this time, so I can be underwhelmed.

All the 'lump can do is to establish that one SDMB poster lacks the wit to have saved the closed thread. I concede the point.

Sweet lord, you really are an annoying twirp, aren’t you? No, when you clearly put so little thought into your posts I can’t imagine caring who or what you bow to.
