Frasier Reboot; Threat or Menace?

Yes. I think the final, “Jump the Shark” moment for that was when the ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ movie was greenlit.

Things could be worse
“Frazer Strikes Back”.

What about Laura Linney? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

In real life, Kelsey Grammer’s politics are firmly Republican, and he even endorsed Trump. So perhaps the character today is doing right-wing talk radio?

ughhh

Yeah, I know. Not much fun. Frasier was a non-political show and it worked.

The Murphy Brown revival (thankfully) tanked quickly. I watched a couple of episodes and it just seemed like blatant Trump bashing. Which you would think I’d be OK with, but I felt like I got enough of Trump in the daily news, I didn’t need him in my entertainment as well.

But the original Murphy Brown show involved politics, so it wasn’t a change that the revival did as well.

And Eddie.

The last time we saw Lilith, she’d made the acquaintance of Brent Spiner. The last time we saw Frasier, he’d gone to Chicago to pursue Laura Linney. I wonder if these would be followed to their logical conclusions.

Yes, this is the main question these days. Seems like all TV now is just the same, basic idea chosen from a menu:

  • Sitcom with ensemble cast of unlikely friends
  • Detective/crime or medical solving drama with unlikely hero
  • Public safety drama branding (Med/PD/FD)
  • Game show, or show where a notorious personality gets to humiliate other people for fun in a game show-like setting
  • Political drama with unlikely hero
  • Talk show
  • Singing competition with unlikely panel of judges

Part of the issue, I suppose, is the studios are very risk-averse and would rather re-tread an existing concept than take a chance on something brand new.

Another big issue is that there are simply too many shows on too many platforms, so it’s very hard for any one show to grab enough attention. Reboots and revivals will at least get some of the original viewers.

Laura Linney running off with Brett Spiner leaving Frasier and Lilith to resume their star crossed romance.

Not likely. Lillith lives in Boston, and Laura moved to Chicago.

Not that it matters at all, but I’m kinda curious about what problem you see here.

How about Laura Linney’s character (whatever her name was) runs off with Lilith?

I’m liking that idea. That needs to be a cable show.

Charlotte. I’m surprised to find she’s only nine years younger than I am.

I’m looking forward to seeing the next chapter in Frasier’s story.

His father has passed away. Frasier is in a new city and job. I hope they deal with his change in age. Does he regret not having children? Is he considering retirement?

There’s a lot that can be written about this character. He was quite young on Cheers, early middle age on Frasier.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Frasier involved with a single mother. Frasier as a reluctant stepdad could be very interesting.

I kinda see him having to move in with Frederick post retirement… favorite chair and all.
