I wholeheartedly agree. I still laugh at both.
And now I’m looking forward to Frasier not having the heart to throw out Martin’s chair.

It’s a wonderful scene. From an episode in season 6.
There were 5 and a half full years after that episode. Do you have a memorable scene from season 10 or 11?
I’m a big Frasier fan and thought the series was excellent all the way through its original run. I have to admit I’m leery of a revival, though - will they be able to capture lightning in a bottle again? Even if it’s very good, it will never measure up, in many fans’ minds, to the original.
But if they’re going to do it, I’d be interested to see what’s become of Frasier’s career; the Laura Linney character, his girlfriend in the final episodes; Niles and Daphne and their kid(s); and Roz and Bulldog and Bebe and so many of the other great secondary characters. Hope he’s stayed in Seattle and still has that great apartment.
I also hope to God they don’t recast anyone. Either bring back the character played by the original actor or actress, or just say they’ve moved to NYC or Blawnox or Tibet or whatever. There’s always room for new people to have come into Frasier’s life.
Here’s CNN’s coverage:
Immediately spring to mind -
Even Frederick? Sure it would be great to use the guy from Frasier again, and there’s also another guy and a pair of twins who played him on Cheers, maybe they’re available too, but what difference does it make for someone who was a teenager last time he was seen? If anything, we should expect he has turned out quite differently than easily imagined from seeing his teen years.
Frederick could be an interesting regular character; perhaps instead of Frasier having to share his home with his father, he has to share it with his son? So you’d still have the generational conflict, just a different sort.
Millicent Martin is 86.

Why would Maris be featured again? His long ago ex wife with no children, when he’s married again?
This was in reply to amarinth who asked what was memorable about seasons 10 and 11.
I would not expect either of those to show up in the new series, except possibly by reference.
“God? It’s me, [pause] Doctor Frasier Crane.”
IIRC, Frasier seasons 9-10 took a dip because the showrunner died on 9/11 and some of the writing staff quit and the show had a decrease in writing, but season 11 got some new writers and actually finished quite strong with a lot of good episodes.
I think the natural fit for this show would be for Frasier to slip into the Martin role. Older, less able to take care of himself, he moves in with his son who resents his hoity toity ways, creating generational conflict.
I keep seeing people say they have to cast the same Frederick actor, but, I mean, come on. That’s a “wouldn’t it be kind of neat” thing, not a “we really have to do this” thing. Find the best actor for the role, it doesn’t matter that it’s the same guy except for a tidbit of fun trivia.
I watched it for the dog. I used to tape it, and FF through it looking for parts with the dog. If the dog wasn’t in an episode, I ended up FFing through the entire thing-- took about 4 minutes.
I haven’t seen The Magicians, but judging by his season or 2 on Mad Men, I wouldn’t have much hope he could hold his own against the Frasier cast.
I know Grammer is a conservative, but casting Roger Stone as the ghost of Martin is going too far.
Has there been any final word on David Hyde-Pierce’s participation? Without Niles, I’m not interested.
I’d be happier with a Niles spinoff than a Frasier revival.
Oo! I’d watch that! I recently watched the entire series (over a period of about 6 weeks) and now understand why DHP got nominated for an Emmy every single season (and won 4, I believe).
But they should have done that as soon as Frasier ended. “Niles Daphne.”
I’m actually interested in how they do this.
The actor who played Fraz’s son Frederick went on to play Josh Hoberman in The Magicians. It would be serendipitous if they brought him back.
It would also be fun to see if they make Fred the exact opposite of Frazier and Lilith’s upper crust sensibilities. Jane Fonda’s son went through a wigger phrase. Maybe Fred could be Post Post Post Punk and wear his prep school uniform imprinted with anarchy symbols and safety pins in his brows.
