Freakouts of the Right

There’s a whole thread about that.

I’ve only been to one Cracker Barrel. Meh, whatever. Basic breakfast. There is a store there too? News to me. Gas stations have ‘stores’ too.

And this is upsetting people? Talk about snowflakes that are very easily triggered. WOW.

That’s all these idjits know how to do. EVERY thing they are responsible for is just pointed back. This is third grade “I’m rubber and you’re glue”. That is the republican party.

But the democrats in congress can’t fight this? HELLO. What’s the best plan? Keep your head down and hope you survive until we become the new USSR? Hope to die? Is that it?

It’s not a store. It’s a gift shop.

I talked about this in another thread… My wife and I just move to a nice little town. We went out to breakfast, a place called the Trailhead Cafe. My wife and I are Rocky Mountain people, so sure, sounds good.

We went on a Sunday, that was a major mistake. This place is actually some sort of church auditorium/cult. They had a live band playing x-stion rock and roll. LOUD. No I mean LOUD

Perhaps this is a freakout of the left. Or just me. But really, I just wanted a nice breakfast with my wife without having blaring music playing that they WILL. NOT. TURN. DOWN.

We stepped into the auditorium. It was packed. People on their feet. Jesus this God that was all I could make out from the ‘music’. We left quite quickly.

I don’t mean to offend any religious people here or anywhere, but, IMHO, religion should be more of a private practice.

Hahahah. Just looked at your link “It’s not a store, it will haunt you for eternity”

The Barrell Cracked.

Cracker Barrel announced Aug. 26 that it is dropping its much-criticized new logo and returning to the “Old Timer.”

“We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen, and we have,” the company wrote in a statement provided to USA TODAY. “Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain.”

The nationwide restaurant chain and country store, which is known for its comfort food and nostalgic atmosphere, unveiled a new, simplified logo with the launch of a fall menu campaign on Aug. 19.

The “enhanced brand look” was intended to modernize the company’s brand, executives said. The intent includes moving its restaurants away from nostalgia-rich decor to something more contemporary and less cluttered.

The change drew sharp criticism from customers and politicians, with both President Donald Trump and the Democratic Party decrying the change.

“All of your fans very much appreciate it,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social following the announcement. “Make lots of money and, most importantly, make your customers happy again!”

USA TODAY followed up with Cracker Barrel asking if the Trump’s comments had influenced its decision and did not recieve an immediate response.

That woman in Minnesota who called a child a racial slur has raised almost a million dollars to fight against her charges.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota prosecutors filed misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges Tuesday against a woman accused of using a racist slur against a Black child at a playground — an incident the woman has since used to raise more than $800,000 after she appealed for help with relocating.

“Defendant wrongfully and unlawfully engaged in offensive, obscene, abusive, boisterous, or noisy conduct, or in offensive, obscene, or abusive language that would reasonably tend to arouse alarm, anger or resentment in others,” the criminal complaint alleges.

A social media video of the April incident, in which the woman admitted to using the slur, has garnered millions of views. It showed a man confronting her for using the slur toward the child. She then appeared to double down on the racist term and held up a middle finger to the man who challenged her.

As of Tuesday, she had raised over $800,000 on the Christian fundraising platform GiveSendGo — including many donations that came in after the charges were announced — with a stated goal of $1 million. In her last update, in June, the woman claimed she was the victim of “silly misinformation.”

Charlie Kirk has some (let’s call it) marital advice for Taylor Swift. (The bolding is mine; the bullshit is all Kirk’s.)

Right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk said he hopes that Taylor Swift’s engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce will make her “more conservative” and urged her to “submit to her husband.”

The MAGA mouthpiece offered somewhat disingenuous congratulations to the pop megastar – who he has regularly criticized for being “woke” – following the announcement.

Swift sent the internet into meltdown Tuesday after revealing her engagement to Kelce, the tight-end of the Kansas City Chiefs, after two years of dating. The shared Instagram post accumulated over 16 million likes in just three hours.

“This is something that I hope will make Taylor Swift more conservative," Kirk said, speaking on his show on Real America’s Voice network. "Engage in reality more… Reject feminism. Submit to your husband, Taylor. You’re not in charge.”

Why does this remind me of the following joke?

A husband and his wife were celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary. One of the assembled journalists had a great question for him.

“Sir, your grandchildren say you and your wife have never had an argument, not even one. How can that be?”

The man answered, “Oh, that’s really simple. On our honeymoon, we went to a kind of wilderness retreat, one where you get to ride horses. My horse was very docile, but the one my wife got was rather spirited. As soon as we started down the path, her horse threw her. My wife stood up, said ‘That’s one.’ Then she got back on the horse. A few minutes later, he threw her again. She stood up, said ‘That’s two.’ And she got right back on that spirited animal. He immediately threw her yet again. She said, ‘That’s three.’ Then she pulled a pistol out of her pack and shot the horse dead. I was shocked. I yelled at her, “Why did you shoot that horse? Are you crazy?’ My wife looked me right in the eyes for a moment. Then she said, ‘That’s one.’”

You’re not in charge, either, Kirk, you ignorant jerk.

Hispanic female Republican candidate in Texas torches the constitution (figuratelivel) by torching the Qur’an (literally).

There has been a furious reaction to an anti-Islamic campaign ad posted by a far-right MAGA congressional candidate in which she sets fire to the Quran with a flamethrower.

Valentina Gomez, who is running for Texas’ 31st District in 2026 as a Republican, shared the extreme video on X as part of her vow to “end Islam” in the Lone Star State.

Approximately one percent of Texas’s population is Muslim.

Gomez has a history of posting violent stunts and using hateful rhetoric against Muslims, the LGBT+ community, Black people, and immigrants, in an attempt to gain notoriety to further a flailing attempt at a political career that has so far gone nowhere.

She does have a flair though for diatribe.

“Your daughters will be raped and your sons beheaded, unless we stop Islam once and for all,” Gomez said before setting fire to a copy of the holy book.

Of course she doesn’t care–or maybe even know–her holy book actually mandates similar if not worse.

Or she supports it, as long as it’s the correct people being raped and murdered.

Cracker Barrel is not out of the woods yet.

Cracker Barrel has altered the language on its classic table peg game amid the chain’s controversial rebrand, and, like its logo change, the move is not going over well with everyone.

The game that’s on all the restaurant’s tables previously poked good-natured fun at struggling players, where the goal is to remove all the pegs but one by jumping over them on the board: “Leave only one - you’re a genius. Leave two and you’re purty smart. Leave three and you’re just plain dumb. Leave four or mor’n you’re just plain eg-no-ra-moose.”

Now, peg games say if you leave three or more, “Don’t be embarassed [sic], try again!” The word was misspelled on a board photographed by Fox News Digital, with only one “r” in embarrassed.

“The peg game is still the same peg game our guests have known and loved for years, and some may look visually different now, but the rules and fun remain completely unchanged,” a Cracker Barrel spokesperson told Country Living.

Of course the snowflakes on the left right freaked. Here’s one example from that link.

“In Cracker Barrel’s process of rebranding from old-timey to modern old-timey and killing their business, they woke-ified the peg game to minimize hurt feelings of those who don’t do so well,” X user William Allen said in a Friday post.

As usual, “woke” means “something I don’t like.”

It’s official, these people have absolutely nothing to do.

Well, they have plenty to do, they just aren’t doing it.

Appearing to care about whatever your constituents are clamoring for/against is both the easiest and many times the dumbest part of politics.

Yeah, it’s a convenient term that way. Since it doesn’t have an obvious applicable literal meaning it can be applied to anything at all. Especially for people like the Right, who have zero respect for truth or facts but love “snarl words.” Calling something “woke” means they don’t have to come up with an explanation or reason why it’s bad.

I thought “fake” had that meaning.

And, to date, not a single person on the right has provided a definition for “woke”.

I don’t think that matters, at all. Critical Race Theory has an obvious literal meaning and they applied to everything they didn’t like. DEI has an obvious literal meaning but they’ve twisted it to the point that “DEI” means any non-white, non-male person that gets hired (or elected) for any job.
“Fake News” has an obvious literal meaning, but that’s lost on half the country. A witch hunt is, quite literally, men hunting women for entirely fabricated reasons, but even in modern times with a modern meaning, it’s still doesn’t mean ‘a reporter asked me a question phrased as an accusation’.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot easier to do this with a term like ‘woke’, but having an obvious literal meaning isn’t stopping them from weaponizing or neutering other words or phrases too.

Did anyone actually look at the tweet from “the Democratic party decrying the change”?

If the link doesn’t display right, it says, “We think the Cracker Barrel rebrand sucks too” and then shows Norman Rockwell’s “Freedom of Speech”. Someone failed irony forever.

Our idiot Speaker of the Kansas HOR, Dan Hawkins, was asked for a definition of woke ideology. His response?

“You don’t know what woke ideology is?” Hawkins said when asked to explain the term. “Go and Google it.”

Link to Kansas Reflector (may be paywalled)

TBF, it was a pretty lametastic rebrand.

I really wish reporters would push back against that kind of bullshit. I feel like being told to google the answer should have been met with the reporter saying
1)I did, it means [definition from google], why do you feel that’s a bad thing?
or
2)Sir, I’m asking you what it means. You’re incorporating it into our politics, I’d like to know your definition of it.
or, go with the tried and true ‘give the wrong answer so they correct you’
3)Google defines ‘woke’ as ‘hating minorities’, do you agree with that?

Oh no, not rainbows on crosswalks! Someone get my fainting couch! It’s a good thing the police are on the job!
