Freaky streaming video issue, please help

I am having a persistent issue with playback of video content purchased from Amazon. After trying the various steps suggested at their site (updating Widevine, resetting DRM licenses, trying different browser) without success, I believe that the most likely cause of this is that I recently had to replace the CPU in my desktop PC. I bought the identical chip that I had before, but if Amazon uses machine identifiers for DRM content, then that’s probably what’s wrong. The issue started immediately after I replaced the chip.

(I note that, when attempting to manually reset my DRM license file, there was no copy of “msr.hds” on my computer.)

Can you please advise me what to do, so that I can catch up with the new season of “Killjoys?” It’s one of the only three shows I even watch.

Incidentally, in case it’s relevant, I can’t play content I bought before I replaced my CPU, and I also cannot play content I bought after replacing the CPU.

I have been all through Amazon’s help pages, tried all their suggestions, and also I have gone through three tiers of technical expertise in a customer support chatroom in India somewhere, wherein it was fairly quickly ascertained that my issue is above their pay grade lol. Extra points to Amazon for me being able to do this at four in the morning, though.

Thanks so much.

Have you tried signing in and out of Amazon after un-registering your pc as a device? First you log-in as usual, then go to content and devices… choose the device tab and unregister your pc. Sign out of amazon, wait a few minutes, sign back in and then register your pc again. Prime Video - Amazon Customer Service

Or, if it doesn’t list your pc as a device, you might have to "Some devices don’t feature a sign in option. Instead, you’re prompted to use a registration code to connect Amazon Video to your Amazon account. The on-screen instructions guide you through the process. You can also learn more at: Amazon Sign-In. "

Another thing to try if you have Win 10 is to launch the amazon video app (vs watching on Amazon) and see if it lets you register via it. I seldom use that since it takes a bit longer to load my movies.

I have to do the un-register/register now and then when my kindle for pc app retains old already returned books. No amount of syncing removes them and you can’t actually read them (because you returned them). Luckily I have not had that problem on my actual kindle but at least I know what to do if it does happen.
