You can direct download the installers from the website without the client if you are logged in to your account.
ETA: and certain games (like several, if not all, Paradox titles) may require you to log in to a separate account to access certain games features, which some might see as a form of DRM.
I think we’re taking past each other.
Gog does have a client, called Galaxy, but it’s in no way needed to use the site. You can buy, download, install and run without the client.
Yeah. If you log in on your browser and go to your library, click on the title, and then beneath the Gog galaxy button are standalone offline installer downloads.
I played GoG games for a long time before their client even existed. As others said, log into their site to download an installer for each game. You can access your library online to see every game you own through them.
I like the client because I find it convenient for me, but it’s not necessary.
Once Upon a Jester is free on GOG for the next two days, a cute looking indie game about a pair of medieval-era scoundrels who need to put on the best possible improv theater to get a spot at a king’s festival and steal some gem.
Link leads to the store page; the “get deal” link takes you to the main page to claim.
Heh, I bought it on PC not TOO long ago but, since then, it’s been in a Humble Monthly and now is free. What bit I played is typical Spiders jank but I’m usually okay with that. I really like the setting concept and do mean to actually get into it.
En Garde! is a fun little game I’ve mentioned before. Pulpy swashbuckling action combining attack/dodge/parry with swinging from chandeliers, pushing over vases and kicking buckets onto some hapless guard’s head. The base difficulty really ramps up at the end but the settings allow for the full spectrum of options including being unable to die.
I did Div2 hard for years, long after all my regular group had bailed. Thought about going back in a month or two ago but I saw that they somehow dragged Keener back from the grave and just couldn’t make myself do it I am interested in next season when they start doing seasonal characters which I know a lot of people are super mad about but I find a good time to jump back in.
Weird. The original date they had was August 22 (which was the day it went free) then Sept 22. No news or mention of it on the store page either. Maybe no one at the publisher knows what they’re doing when setting dates.
I enjoyed Snowrunner, so DLed this and played around a bit, but dang me this is one frustrating game. I took the wrong way around in the first super easy mission (should have drone reconned more) and ended up in the river. Must have spent at least 10 minutes trying to find the recover option in the interface. The “Codex” says it’s there when you select a base, but I don’t see it.
Somehow the next 3 expeditions were unlocked. I try one where seismic equipment is needed in 3 spots. Terrain is very un-road-like. There’s no drone on the truck I chose. In Snowrunner you could switch to a smaller scout vehicle at the base and drive around looking for a better approach to the destination, but here you are locked in when you choose a vehicle it seems. Argggh!
I actually bought Expeditions because of the graphics and how much I enjoyed Spintires and Mudrunner.
Yeah this is a lot different, almost like a puzzle game where you have to find the tricky hard-to-find route they intended you to take. The winch accessories are pretty important too.
You can find other routes but it’s a matter of luck on whether your vehicle can survive falls.
I did get to the second area which was a Grand Canyon region IIRC, but I ran out of motivation.
Press Any Button is an hour-long indie game that’s free for the next 24 hours. I haven’t played it but apparently it’s free for Suicide Awareness Day so let that be your potential content warning.
