Free PC game and free weekend notification thread

that looks like someone took some acid and said hey I wanna take breakout/Arkanoid, rampart, and missile command with warlords and throw them in a blender and see what we get …

oh here’s one i found as a recommendation looks like it could get Fortnite goofy with the equipment tho note there was an age check before you get to the page …

Unplagued just released and is free until tomorrow morning

Today on Epic:

Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Outliver: Tribulation

I’ve had many hours of fun in Empyrion. If you like base-building, it is fantastic; you can terraform, and nearly any block can have one of dozens of patterns and colors applied. And LED signs.

Ship-building as well.

I played it for a bit on Xbox. It’s okay, though it’s a Korean online game and has most of the problems you expect from such a game, and the story is total nonsense (which might be a translation issue as far as I know).

It’s sort-of like a lesser-quality free-to-play version of Destiny, but with a HEAVY emphasis on pay-to-win (and it has no character creation or RPG elements, you have to earn or buy characters to play that have unique abilities). Definitely wasn’t my cup of tea. And it’s not a Fortnite type game; it’s a looter-shooter not a MOBA.

It’s also not new, it came out over 3 months ago.

Love the requirements listed…

Minimum specs: Fast GPU
Recommended specs: Faster GPU

Thanks for the recommendation, it does look interesting.

Rinky-dink platformer Minimalism is free to get until noon CST on the 12th

Ghostwire: Tokyo

For some reason this is already in my library. There must have been a previous giveaway, but I don’t see it in this thread.

I played it on my Xbox a while back when it was available on Game Pass, and it was a pretty slick modern (or near future) fantasy first-person action-adventure game. Great graphics and interesting gameplay. If that sounds anything like something you like, it’s definitely worth adding to your library for free.

It generally scores in the high 70s, low 80s in game reviews. so that tells you right there that it’s fairly decent. And it’s only a couple of years old.

Boomer shooter (i.e. old Doom-esque games) Unloved is free for the next 23 hours (until noon CST on Nov 1)

Return of the Phantom giveaway on GOG. Was priced at $70 upon release in 1993.

Today on Epic:

Apex Legends™: Ash Free Unlock Bundle

Deceive Inc.

Deceive Inc is actually one of my favorite games. The premise is sort of like a Bond movie, where 6-10 players are trying to break into a vault and steal a secret device. It has that kind of Bond gadgety aesthetic. There are a lot of NPCs running around in various environments, and you can copy what they look like, and you want to try to act like them and blend into the crowd, but while also taking care of your objectives, like gathering intel, unlocking terminals to get into the vault, etc. Other players are also trying to figure out who is a spy and so it’s a mix of trying to observe others, hide your own actions while still accomplishing things, etc. It’s pretty unique and there isn’t really a game that has done what it does better than it has. It’s definitely worth a try.

In fact if anyone is interested in playing hit me up on steam (or PM here), I can’t get my friends to play the game much anymore.

Is this a first, a week where only multiplayer games are offered free? I have no interest in multi player online, it just seems incredibly toxic and not fun.

I got the impression most online multiplayer games are free to play nowadays, due to them making money from children buying hats, and nobody being willing to pay for them, and thus the servers are empty.

Also, games that are purely player vs player don’t need content because the players provide it themselves; the enemies and obstacles are each other. That saves developers so many resources that they can literally give the games away and still make a massive profit on cosmetic sales.

Of course, like you I find them toxic and devoid of fun. It’s like the difference between being a kid and having a choice to spend your afternoon at a playground or an empty field that people are using to play football. Unless I already know those people playing football and they want me to join and I’m in the mood, of course I’m choosing the playground.
