Free PC game and free weekend notification thread

Great game, weirdly disappointing choice for a Christmas Day giveaway seeing as how it’s been either free or on fire sale pricing numerous times in the past. I assume most people here would own it by now.

Agreed. It’s odd that the free Christmas Eve game would be the better giveaway than the one for today.

Is it at least the ultimate edition, or just the base game? I don’t think the ultimate edition has been free yet.

I’ve had it and played it from Epic for a long time. Free when I grabbed it as well.

Here is an idea: Grand Theft Auto IV

I grabbed V from them when it was free, but I honestly don’t remember 4 ever being free.

Base game.

The Control Season Pass with the 2 additional levels is also on sale $4.49, and is absolutely worth it, the extra levels are large, fun, dig deeper into the lore, and give you extra powers.

If you like the genre Control is a fantastic game. Well worth your time if you want a weird but great FPS.

Ghostrunner 2 is free from Epic today.

Today on Epic

Hot Wheels Unleashed

GOG’s giveaway

The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav

BTW, there’s 11 free car DLC packs available on the store. Also some more for Unleashed 2 (which you can’t redeem) but the base Unleashed game has 11 of them. Just search Hot Wheels and sort from low to high price and skip the “Unleashed 2” ones on the top.

Kill Knight is today’s free Epic game.

Today on Epic:

Orcs Must Die 3

Was in my library, so I guess they gave it away before.

Just a few weeks ago i think.

Right now Epic is giving away the game [REDACTED]:

It’s a “a fast-action isometric roguelike”.

There’s a new “mystery game” available tomorrow.

Apparently it’s in the Callisto protocol universe or related, I think I read a decent review a while back, so this is quite new. Just had a look, this game is roughly 2 months old.

you know i wish when they had these unannounced giveaways for December they’d give you “one last chance” to get them … I’ve missed most of the free games this month …

I’m happy I’m tracking this thread for days where I’ve forgotten or otherwise lost track exactly where I am in the space/time continuum and get the thread activity emails

Thanks to those who’ve posted when I’ve been otherwise misplaced.

GOG has a giveaway today, “Vambrace: Cold Soul”. It’s a roguelike dungeon-crawler that had mixed reviews when released 5 1/2 years ago, but it seems worth grabbing for free to me.

(Hopefully that link jumps to the giveaway button.)

At the moment I post this, it says there are 67 hours left.

The free game from Epic today is “Sifu”.

I played this on Xbox as part of Game Pass and I really liked it. It’s a martial arts game that feels like you’re living through a classic Kung Fu movie, the kind you’d see coming out of Hong Kong in the 80s and 90s. It has an aesthetic like a painted comic book, a style I’ve seen in a number of high end Netflix animated films that I think is pretty neat.

The controls take some getting used to, and are a bit complicated, and the gameplay is sort of Souls-like in a way from what I remember because as you progress through each combat area getting hit takes a lot of damage from you, and it’s difficult to find ways to heal. So the difficulty is pretty high and you find yourself repeating it a lot. That may turn people off, and admittedly that killed my enthusiasm somewhat as well, but it’s a pretty quality game for free and it’s only a couple of years old.

(Huh, apparently there is a TV adaptation for the game on Amazon Prime, I should check that out.)
