Free PC game and free weekend notification thread

Lorelai is free on GOG

CHKN used to be a $20 early access game but the devs decided that whatever the game was lacking wasn’t going to be fixed with more twenty dollar bills and made it free a couple of days ago.

This week on Epic Chess Ultra, a game I will play and lose once, and then remember I hate chess.

There’s also some other starter pack for World of Tanks to try and get people to try that free game again.

I hope the pack is called Tanks A Lot.

Sludge Life is free on Steam until the 30th

It’s World of Warships. Used to play it and it is fun and looks great but the grind is real to tempt you into spending money.

Damn, it is, so isn’t the human mind weird that I changed that name without even realising it?

There’s a diablo 4 open beta this weekend on the battle.net client

Free on GOG:

No! Hush!

I don’t want other people making the queue worse for me!

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(The game is fantastic, I already preordered and played the closed beta last weekend, but finally this weekend we get to try the Druid and Necromancer classes.)

80GB download. The weekend might be over before it finishes.

That’s why you download ahead of time, you don’t need to wait until it opens. I usually do it a day or two earlier.

You can turn off the high res texture option in the installer to cut the download in half.

Be careful of Diablo IV, it has demons.

thanks for that @JaneDoe42 and her husband were involved in the closed beta and she said the game’s a hell of a lotta fun if youre a diablo fan and a lot of the good stuff in the diablo mobile game ended up in it in "expanded forms

Thanks for the warning, so far so good.

Hubs is still having a great time with it. He gets kicked every so often which is good because it means he has go get up and move around.

I’ve played with my session but mostly I’ve been offline because our internet suckz. Crappy connections are the price we pay to live in the sticks. (One of them, that is.) I can remember playing DI using dial-up so I can’t complain that much!

Both of us have pre-ordered it and we’ve been seeing evidence of high speed internet cables being installed at the junction, so hopefully someday we will be able to play at the same time…cause sometimes he just needs killing.

Rather than make this thread all about D4, I’ve created a new thread here for it:

Good tip from the article:

Nvidia GeForce owners can limit the frame rates on their graphics cards through the Nvidia control panel. The “Max Frame Rate” option resides in the “Global Setting” tab right under the “Manage 3D settings” section.

One of the games I have on deck to play next is Stranded Deep, but I was bummed to discover that even my lowly 3050 was going over 1500 FPS on the menu screen. I had planned to try and find an FPS limiter option in the game, but it looks like I don’t have to worry anymore. I can just set it globally to 144 to match my monitor and never think about it again.
