God knows why I’m actually volunteering to write the minutes for this mini-Dopefest, but here goes…
I made my way to the East Bay via public transportation (BART for those in the know). Then I wandered blindly through Berkely in the pouring rain until I stumbled across Mario’s restaurant. There I found Sassy, t-shirts, Snooooopy, slackergirl and Zenster. I wasted no time in ordering a beer. Soon thereafter Sea-Diver showed up. But by then we had all scarfed up our enchiladas, tacos, flautas and whatever the hell else they serve there so Sea-Diver pretty much got stiffed on the Mexican food. We headed directly to the brewery, which for the life of me I can’t remember the name of. Also about this time slackergirl apparently felt the pangs of roommate responsibilities and left to help her new roommate move in.
The brewery was pretty cool, especially so because it was deserted and we had the place pretty much to ourselves. More beverages and Rice Krispies Squares flowed as we commenced to conversating. What subjects were covered? It was a Dope-Fest, what do you think? Everything. Mexican politics - baseball versus soccer - pope jokes - Wicca - digital cameras (which Sea-Diver was in possession of, so she better get the pics up) - etc.
All in all, a good time was had by everyone. A future Dublin Dope-Fest is already in the works with BBQ, drinks and Playstation2 promised. Can’t wait.
Jack you left out the vegan sex question, the hog slaughtering and our general concensus about being at the top of the food chain. Other than that, you pretty much covered the bases. You’re hired as our official secretary.
I know, I know, all this is just a ploy to get your hands on SeaDiver’s Sony Playstation II. You aren’t fooling any of us.
Great to see all of you there, and looking forward to our next holiday dopefest in Dublin. SeaDiver has graciously extended use of her complex’s rec room and kitchen. So, now it’s time for oldscratch, wevets, Sue Duhnym, baglady, Archive Guy, White Lightning, Poirot and all the others who missed this go round to check in and let us know what is a good weekend for them in between now and Christmas.
SeaDiver’s location is two blocks from BART so transportation is not a problem. Everybody check in please. I’ll start a new thread for the dopefest with a pointer to this thread.
Sounds like y’all had fun, wish I could have been there!
I’ll try to be there for SD’s party, though! Nice about the BART thing, too bad transportation IS a problem for those of us in the North Bay… (Felt the need to be persecuted, excuse me. A BART line clearly needs to be dug under the Richmond Bridge.)
It was funny when the waitress took pictures of us with slackergirl’s new Sony digital camera. She stood on a chair and looked fascinated to see the scene projected on the back of the camera instead of using a peephole.
I guess Zenster is going to make up a web page for them.
Geez, it sounds like the conversation got waaaayyyy more interesting after I left. For my part, I am glad I was able to hang out for a bit, and I did manage to miss most of the moving-in-trauma here. By the time I got home everything was already upstairs. Definitely count me in for Sea Diver’s party.
