Fri.13th -- was Jason ever umasked?

Now I’ve seen perhaps only a handful of the movies, and they’re all the same – so in my head it’s like one, long (too long) movie and my only real recollection is a scene with Crispin Glover post-coitally asking a girl “Am I a dead f**k?” and a young Corey Feldman looking possesed.

Was Jason ever unmasked so we know what he really looks like?

http://home.no.net/jason911/jason_unmasked.htm has several pictures of jason without his mask

huh. He got bigger since the first one.

I’ve never seen the movies, but to me it always looked like it was fused to his head, kind of like how Dr. Doom would never take off his mask . . . or is it like The Mask, where whoever puts it on becomes Jason.

Ah, thanks. I couldn’t remember ever seeing him unmasked, although I do believe I saw parts II and III in which your link shows his ugly mug was displayed.

Hm. Nope the pics aren’t at all familiar. You’d think I’d remember that.

Thanks. That’s all I wanted to know. Easy-as-pie kind of question.

Mmm… pie…

Wait, what about “Michael Myers” the Halloween guy? Have we seen his face?

Gah! Was I so disinterested that I really don’t remember???

Michael Myers was unmasked at the end of the first Halloween.

And Jason would also show his ugly mug to a bunch of break dancing gang members (but not the camera) in Part VIII.

Judging by those pics, Jay shoulda left the mask on.

What an undead 'tard . . .

What’s with his face in the Jason Takes Manhattan image? It looks like an uncooked clay sculpture made by mentally challenged kindergarteners.

well, ya hafta understand that poor ol’ Jason has been beat around pretty good… been mostly dead a LOT… been chained underwater and had an outboard boat motor run on his head… and left THERE to rot… and it has sorta become a running gag (no pun intended… ok, yes it WAS intended too) to have all Jason’s injuries carry over into the next movie. He gets hit in the head with a machete in movie x, and there’s a chip in the mask in that spot in movie y. Which is, in my opinion one of the reasons they let mim get his face “rebuilt” by the nanobots in Jason X… oops sorry for the big spoiler there…

or maybe I’m overthinking the whole thing

“Nanobots”? I dont wanna know!

I think I actually liked him better (as in “found it creepier”) when he looked a little more human. Turned into the “oo! scary monster!” he loses some of his effect. He seemed creepier when there was still some “vague humanity” in an otherwise monstrous being.

Come to think of it, Halloween #1 is one that I don’t believe I’ve ever seen in its entirety, which is why I only remember the Capt. Kirk mask instead of his real face.

(But then, I didn’t remember Jason’s face until I saw the pics Petri linked to. (On further inspection I totaly remember #1, sort of #3 and vaguely #4).

Amazing how slasher flicks so often end up in the background of a party, or partially watched on TV. I think I’ve only watched a handful from start to finish, if you include three of the Nightmare On Elm Street series, Terror Train, Scarecrow and I think I’ve only seen Halloween IV (or was it five?)

I’ve seen many more, but I’ve never really sat down to watch them from start to finish unless it was “cheesy horror move night” when my friends and I would rent dreadful stuff like Chopping Mall and Slumber Party Massacre – that was more of our own MST3K.

Strangely, I actually want to see Freddy vs. Jason. I don’t know why.

Well, yeah… I can understand all that and some of the masks look pretty cool but that one looks like nothing more than a blob of clay whereas in a later pic, he looks convincingly gruesome.

[only marginally related to this thread]Jason Voorhees was always my favorite horror flick bad guy. Not because of the cool mask or the cool lamaze sounding music they play when he’s stalking his victims but 'cause he has the same first name as my favorite cousin.[/omrttt]

I think the Jason Takes Manhattan pis is from when Jason was in the process of being dissolved by industrial waste in the sewers of New York. A pretty impossible injury to come back from, yet he managed it with a little help from New Line Cinema.

Yes, Fibber…that’s it. Jason looked much like he did in TNB (part 7) in JTM (part 8).

If you think Jason’s maks was scary looking, check out some pictures fro F13:2. He wears a wplain white canvas bag over his head with one, off-centered eye hole cut out of it. Very scary stuff.

I hear in this new one he has a mullet (well, the few whisps of hair he’s go left are mullet-like).

I wanna see the image of the “impostor-Jason” on Petri’s link. Thatone was sort of a Scooby-Doo ending wasn’t it.

Thelma: “There was no real Jason! It was Roy Burns all along!”

Roy Burns: “And I would have got away with too, if it weren’t for those darn (fornicating) kids!”

More Googling…

I made a special wooden frame for an eighth grade art project with the words “Camp Crystal Lake” in raised wooden letters. Inside the frame was a picture of Jason, sans mask, that I had clipped out of Fangoria.

Amazingly, none of my teachers ever made me go see the guidance counselor.

This is a total hijack, but I just had to say that my high school band camp (This one time, at band camp …) was held at the same camp used for the first movie. Which was not nearly as creepy as I hoped it would be!

Jason was never my favorite bad guy–Michael Myers is the creepiest, but Freddy always gave me nightmares when I was a kid. But I’ve been waiting for Freddy vs. Jason since they started talking about it five years or so ago, and I’ll be first in line tomorrow night!!

End hijack.

Freddy creeped me out in the first movie when he was more in “silent stalker” mode. Otherwise, I agree, there is something really eerie about Michael Myers (aka “The Shape”) – I think it’s because he’s often so slow.

Something psychologically eek-eek-eeky about a baddy who chases you sloooooowly. Like he knows he’s going to get you. It’s only a matter of time so he can be patient and just keep walking towards you. No need to rush. Just… walk.

shudder

Myers vs. Jason always seemed to be a better pairing to me. Similar baddies that you figure would be an even match. Good for the mayhem.

<only vaguely-related hijack>
I got really pissed when I had a “classic slasher flick” nightmare once. Freinds of mine and I were being chased in a remote area by a guy in a green-and-red striped sweater. Man, I woke up mad! I mean, if I’m gonna have a really scary nightmare, it damn well better be an original and not some re-hashed plot!
</hijack>

I remember when we were kids, we always used to speculate what would happen when the F13 franchise got to movie number 13.

It’s funny, I was never allowed to see the movies when I was little, and when I finally DID see them, they weren’t scary. Just cheesy good fun and blood and gore.

And LOTS of bad 80s fashion.

I remember the young Michael Myers being unmasked at the beginning of the first Halloween, but the adult Michael? Are you sure?

I think I stopped watching that series at 3, but if I recall correctly in part 2, near the end, Jason is chasing a girl in a blue sweater. She is against a wall and Jason lifts his mask. I do not remember if the audience saw him or not, but it seemed pointless to me since she didn’t know him before he became “Jason”. I guess it was just for shock rather than any type of revelation.
